What tire would you choose? Recommendations please - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I may have a small leak in one of my rear tires (OEM Continental ContiProContact SSR) and am debating what to do next. As I've had these tires on since 2009, I was in the process of thinking about replacing them at some point even though the tread is still pretty good.

If I just replace with the same brand, I'll probably just replace both rear tires right now and replace the front two sometime over the summer. Alternately, I could take the opportunity to swap out all four now with something possibly less expensive and better performing.

The other tires I'm considering are the Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season Run Flat (on sale for $188 each) or the Michelin Primacy MXM4 ZP (on sale for $137 each). I absolutely want to stay with RFT's.

How do these tires compare with the Continentals? Would you recommend a different RFT? They need to be all season and should be at least as decent in the wet and snow as what I have on now.

I just got BFG G Force Comp 2's on my 335xi sedan. Great so far. Not sure if this has any relevance to this thread. Just sayin'!

No but most don't buy those tires, at least my friends. If you asked about summer performance rft or winter rft rubber it's a different story. All season tires suck in wet and dry if you care about steering feedback, control etc. I ran PS2 ZP in summer and now switching to PSS. PS2 is excellent! In winter I run LM-25. I am not sure why would you go with all seasons in MA considering the winter weather and rwd car. I can tell you that MXM4 suck in dry and wet even on Acura TL fwd.

You're right that A/S tires are a compromise, and that dedicated summer & snow tires are always the best option. I don't run my car very aggresively, and with the exception of highway trips, am usually stuck in Boston traffic. That's why for me A/S are appropriate for me.

The MXM4 you're thinking of are the Pilot seires, which I've heard was not a good tire. The Primacy MXM4 is a completely different tire, and has been well received.

That being said, anyone have any opinions or experience on how the Primacy and P Zero Nero A/S compare to the OEM Continentals?

Looks like the 970's are not RFT, but 960's are. I'll check them out! I wasn't considering Bridgestones as I remember the issues many people had with the OEM Bridgestones when I first got my car.
