I think that is the plastic jacking point, rather than something that will protect it.

2x1 timber cut to length works for me. Cheap too

Made mine out of garage scraps; a plywood base and a small block of hard wood glued and screwed to the plywood, and then painted it yellow. Took 30 mins to make and cost nought. I keep it in the boot.
I think the important thing is that the DIY block has to be deep enough so as to not put the weight of the car on the edges of the plastic jacking points as they will crush.

I had this dilemma a few months back-3 out of the 4 plastic jacking blocks had been crushed by the previous owner and noone in the uk sells the alloy adaptor blocks.Nice as the are,the postage makes it a daft purchase!
I've now bought some new plastic blocks from the stealers at just over £9 each I've also cut a block of wood that fits into the recess of the jacking point. The only problem I've found is that i have to use a trolley jack to keep the block level or else it starts to move and then crush and different trolley jacks have different sizes of cups. |

Just looked at the link-you still have to have four 'undeformed' jacking blocks ie item #24.
The link is an adaptor that fits into the jacking block, allowing your car to be jacked up without crushing it. |

Easy to swap over? I've got both front blocks that are fubared and I could do with renewing them.

You need to jack your car up to get a bit of leverage, but no major issues-once off they just snap back in-oh and £4.95 is slightly more reasonable!

Any pics of it? The only issue with mine is the extra clearance required, I already have to drive the car on the a piece of wood to raise it enough to get the jack under it |

Hope this isn't too off topic, but can anyone recommend a good quality LOW trolley jack at a sensible price? And, how exactly do you remove the existing (crushed) plastic blocks if you're replacing them with new ones? Do they just lever off, or is there a bolt? Mike. |
