If you had your oil change done before scheduled...

If you had your oil change done before scheduled at the dealer did they charge you or was it free?

$75 isn't bad, much less than I thought. I plan on bringing it in anyways to have them check out my freaky comfort access so I will probably just have them change the oil there.

$69.95 at my local stealership, including BMW synthetic. At that price it's not worth messing with yourself.

That sounds more like the full Oil SERVICE which replaces more than just the engine oil, although I'm not sure exactly what is included. I had my engine oil changed at 5,000 mi. for $68. At that time he quoted me $234 for the full service.

I hit the one year mark at 8000 miles on it, so the dealer did it for free...
My personal opinion is that there is no reason for any earlier oil change like some "break-in" crap etc... BMW is not a Kia to try to cheat you on that...to avoid a $15 oil cost + $5 in labor...

BMW also did not wait until 15k to change the oil until the "free maintenance program" came about. I believe it was 7500 for the oil to be changed. Now all of a sudden its 15k. Don't think oil has made a breakthrough and warrant 15k oil changes.

They will still charge for labor. I already asked. I think it was about $60 here in Hawaii.

Its not the oil only, it is the engine components, too...
Did the spark plugs really make such a huge progress from last model (every 36k miles) to 100k miles now?

If you have time to read you can see the changes from 3 yr 36k to the 4 yr 50k Oil changes under the old plan were charged as part of "service recommendations" http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/B0...002%20model%22

Exactly! I wish I could find the article that mentions all the longer waits for service that happens to be out the 50k range.

Suppose to be every year on your anniversary of purchase and if you are lucky they will change it before that if you are days away. Mileage is not a factor as there are members that have passed the 20k point and still had to wait for an oil change. That must be some super oil!
