JB4 has access to the DME. We do not.

But I thought it was all through CAN integration? Sorry Im new to this, so forgive me? All the programs we have can't access CAN?

I'm not too sure about the method Terry employs in the gauge hi-jacking but it usually comes back to custom scripting in his external piggy back. We are limited to using what the car has preprogrammed as far as options go.

So how is it that jb4 can do this needle sweep but we can't find a code for it?

The JB4 probably hijacks/overrides the CAN bus signals from the DME or something to trick the KOMBI into doing that. It's not a coding option.

Surely there is a way we can hijack then to without Jb4 right?
wildcatcrazy You're the expert. What would be required to write custom code?

Does the needle sweep form part of the Instrument cluster test?

I guess JB4 hijacks the gauges. I doubt a coding option is available by default. This would surely need a custom map or similar piggy back device as JB4...

Although the fact the cluster does this during a test means a routine is available to run a sweep. Interesting.

Exactly, this is why I have pinged wildcatcrazy Surely there is a code we could write or perhaps a script? I'm clueless on cars but I know computers.

How does one get the cluster to do a test? I don't think I've ever seen mine do a needle sweep?

Edit: Google is my friend ... I now see how.

I've been through the entire kombi file and there is nothing in there that would enable it (and I'm from Germany so I can read everything in there without any kind of weird translations)

It's beyond me. I would have to refer to even more knowledgeable coder cn555ic. But I honestly don't think it's possible with our standard tools, and would require a custom map.

Is the cluster test simply giving false info the the KOMBI to make it think that each speed and each rev is happening and thus the needles move, or is it an actual KOMBI check.

I'm not sure if I'm being clear with what I mean sadly. Like, is the cluster check a result of another module sending 1mph, 2mph, 3mph, 4mph etc to the KOMBI? Or is it the KOMBI just flapping the needles around?
