Shell 100 Oct in Germany
We decided to drive from The Hague to Berlin for the weekend. When it was time to fill up in Germany, I dropped by the Shell station. Just like Holland, there were two types of fuel: Shell Fuel Save and Shell V-Power. However, unlike Holland, the V-Power in Germany is 100 Oct (it's 95 in Holland). As it was just a few extra cents per liter more, I went for the 100 Oct. Maybe it's just placebo effect, but wow, what a difference; the car feels like it has all sorts of new mid-range power!
Think there's a difference with the 100 OCT or is it just a bit of "I'm on the Autobahn and I'm awesome" placebo? |

You do know that octane is measured differently in Europe from the US, correct?
That 95 in the Netherlands is about 90 -91 in the US and that 100 octane in Germany is about 94 or 95. Enjoy the Autobahn. |

You feeble attempts at insults aside, a good run on the Autobahn running gas with a bit more octane is a good thing. I just wanted to people to know that octane is measured differently.

By the way, the V-Power in Germany has the sub-heading of "racing" on the pump handle. It felt awesome to fill up with "racing" gas. |

I apologize - but - do racing and Autobahn go together? |

For a sneaky drag race or elasticity race, yes - "racing" fuel and the Autobahn mix well!
