Castrol Edge Synthetic on Sale!!!
Hi guys, I just thought maybe some of you would like to take advantage of this sale. I bought four 5L jugs yesterday and I am thinking of going back for another 4 today.

Shouldn't it be the 0W 40 for our car? Those are the European LL-01 grade.
Anyway picked up the last two at the Stouffville location.

This is a good way to save more than half of what the garages charge for an oil change in our cars. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4768 |

We're talking about Castrol here.... in the same line you sent, post #17 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showpo...5&postcount=17 list out the spec of 0W30 and 5W30. Only the 0W30 has the BMW Longlife-01 spec. Please make sure your one has LL01 spec in it or else go return it!

Castrol Edge SPT and Castrol Edge Titanium synthetic oil in 5W30 grade DO NOT meet BMW LL-01 spec. Whereas Castrol Edge SPT and Castrol Edge Titanium synthetic oil in 0W30, 0W40 and 5W40 grades DO meet BMW LL-01 spec. Have to look at the fine prints. |

Man, got excited for nothing LOL. Went to Canadian Tire and nothing was for sale. Must be a regional thing. Needed to do a oil change too.

I get so confused about BMW oil, I just get the dealership oil to be safe. I've heard 5w30, 0w40, 5w40 Euro grade. It gets rather confusion...of course purely from my lack of knowledge.

Unless you're tracking your car, all you need to look for is if the oil is BMW LL approved or if it meets the standard. Don't worry too much about oil weights if you're just driving around town.

The sale only four days only and included ow 40 which is ll01 and European formula which it states on the front. The 5/30 is not European spec since I did an oil change today on my buddies Cadillac which he bought from Costco for only 30 bucks. Anyway. Sale is done

The weight becomes important when you're putting high stress on the car. For day/day driving, you're not going to feel the difference whether you're using OEM 5w30, 0w30 European Formula or 0w40 European Formula (Belgium). I've used all of them and as a person who doesn't even come close to pushing my car, I felt no difference. At all. The car doesn't drive smoother, it doesn't idle any better or anything else people may say in other threads.

It's due to liability purposes. While GC 0W30 is BMW LL-01 oil, it's not what BMW recommends or outlines in the user manual. The only oil that you could bring to BMW is 5W30 or 5W40.
