I think its fair to say the reasons this car has made this list 20 years running - 335,328,M3, whatever - are the reasons thus board exists, the reasons we obsess about these cars, and the reasons we love driving them so much

The real reason is called "bias". C&D has always been known to favor BMW. Nothing's changed over the years.

But where does this favoritism come from? I agree that once in a while the car might barely make into the list based on its past credentials, but this won't go on forever. BMW still makes one of the best drivers' cars period.

The 3-series is only a top 10 car if you are a DRIVER. For cruisers, poseurs, and old ladies, there are clearly better values out there.
