Car Broken, HELP
A little while back, when I was in my “spirited driving days” I kept the revs high while driving and started going into limp mode every couple of weeks. I noticed my car shaking like a Mustang on every stop light and go into limp mode more and more. I took it to life quality BMW in Bay Ridge (twice), only to be told there is nothing wrong with the car ( don’t go there). Today I am cruising in the city in 4th – 3000 rpm, downshift to 3rd @ around 4,000 and go into limp mode. I restart the car and give it some gas (to about 4000) and it goes into limp mode again. I restart the car to find that now the service engine light remains on (and it was never on before), so I give it hell and it doesn’t go into limp mode but the service engine light isn’t going away….. Does anyone know what this could be? I was thinking HPFP but there were never any long cranks, which leads me to believe it might be the injectors. Also, does anyone know of any dealerships that give loaners (or can be talked into giving loaners) to customers that didn’t purchase/lease with them? Thank you for your help.

First thing I'd check is the gas cap. Make sure it's closed completely. I got an SES light once because the stupid gas attendant didn't close the gas cap completely.
As to dealerships in NY. Can't help you there. But if you're willing to take a ride to JMK BMW in Springfield, NJ you can ask for Jacob. He'll take care of you. Just make sure you call ahead of time to see when they will have loaners available. And it's only about 30 mins. away from the Holland Tunnel. GL!

when i had this, new injectors, programming, spark plugs, oil change, and hpfp replaced, and it ran like a tank. getting out of the 335 was the best decision ive ever made, the pre lci n54 will never work out..

Wow, you needed to replace all that over time or in one visit? i agree the n54 aint all that as far as reliability, but for that price range, i don't like anything else.
