Hi, so I just recently bought an automatic w/steptronic E90 328xi with 78,XXX miles. This is my first car, so I plan on keeping it for 5 years.I know my question may possibly be very vague but please try your best with your answers.

Really interested in getting an extended warranty, however, know nothing about whats included and how to do this? Is it worth it? Does it cover parts and labor? How long should extend it?

My car drives perfectly however the only thing that concerns me at times is that in first gear when I press down on the acceleration it sometimes lags.

The car was looked at by a neighborhood mechanic, so I never took the car to dealer. Whats the process like if I wanted to take the car to BMW?

OP the lag is normal on the NA cars like the 325i/328i.

If you're looking to get rid of the lag, search the forum and read about the BMS power box

Put it in sport mode. That helps with the lag in my car.

Does your car have the extended warranty from the seller? otherwise you have gone over the std warranty of 50,000 miles or 4 years.

+1 on this although my car is jerkier in DS mode especially going from 1st to 2nd gear

As others have said, the transmission is normal ... and the factory warranty is over after 4 years/50k miles. You'd have to look for 3rd party warranties. I don't think BMW will cover you anymore. 3rd party warranties can cover various things depending on how much you're willing to spend. Talk with your local dealer to see if they have a good relationship with any of them.

You mean from 2nd to 3rd. On a dead stop if you put your car in DS it will be set in 2nd gear. Don't have any lag but than again I have a PBX. Only issue I had was with lag at around 3k RPM when going from 2nd to 3rd but that was caused by my CAI. Needeless to say I got rid of the CAI and did a drop in filter/charcoal filter delete on the stock air box.

My car does the same thing, talked to some friends and they said it's normal.
