So far I have found the cable that I need from this thread, but the only software talk I've been seeing is for max 2010 (I know it is highly possible I'm overlooking mention of the 2011). Will this software work for the 2011, also (or does someone have a direct link to the software/items I'd need)? Will the same coding techniques used in the 2010 cars work the same on 2011, or were there changes made in this regard when they changed the engine?

Again, I know this has probably been answered but all those posts are making my eyes cross up a bit. I don't mind doing the research/work myself, just could use some help narrowing down where I need to start my research for my specific car (assuming it matters) in this massive thread.

Thanks.
Is there somewhere on here where I can see what coding options/things to code for a 2011 E90? My E90 has been ordered and enroute but I don't know what options I have to be coded. Thanks for your help.

Even a link to the already posted thread will work!

OK actually I found this http://ultimatetune.com/Coding.pdf and saw quite a few options that could be coded. But one of the things I was told by my SA was that my vehicle could already do the windows down/up w/ the fob. Is this true for a 2011 e90 or does it have to be coded?

Hi,

I have an annoying message the comes every 10 seconds on my idrive (Convertible Top Control has Failed) I would love to get rid of this message as my car isnt a convertible and I just performed an engine, transmission, ECU Swap from a convertible to a coupe.. I have the newer idrive...

I have a BT scan tool... Im willing to purchase anything to get rid of this message... anyone have any ideas how I can get rid of that fault..

As far as i know, all U.S. cars come thru with auto windows UP/sunroof close with fob or CA coded out - apparently due to safety regulations where U.S. customers are not trusted to auto roll up their windows in case there is a person in the windows path...

Euro purchased cars allow this feature from the git go.

On another note, one of the interesting items I saw from the site you linked was the BMW Efficient Dynamics Display turned ON in the gauge cluster. Where it shows you arrows and gear number that you should be in as you are driving for best gas mileage (essentially a shift light).

Anyone know if this feature is available on automatic cars for use when in DS and paddle shift mode, and if so what years, and coding line?

Dude, the very first post of this thread has a link to a spreadsheet with virtually all the coding options as well as how to code them yourself....

Sorry if that sounds a little harsh, but I actually did read the whole thread and I've been posting since about Page 120 or so and the same questions have been asked and answered multiple times.

And yes the above poster is correct. Windows down with the fob is enabled on US cars, up is not by default.

OK, thanks...not taking it harshly. But what I was wondering what of the stuff listed, is most of that already on the 2011s. I'm still searching these threads to find out more but thought I'd ask while I'm searching.

It's not already on the 2011s, it's just possible to be coded. The factory option on the things we talk about coding here probably aren't very different on my 2011.75 from someone else's 2007, for example.

Oh ok Yeah I'm still trying to learn everything I can so once mines arrive, and I can't find anyone to code it for me, I can be ready to do it myself. I've been looking around and can't seem many folks near Warrensburg, MO who's coding...but again I'm still looking.

Talk to Mike@Powerchip here. He does remote coding and actually that PDF you linked to earlier is his list of the coding he offers.

Honestly I think your problem is that you went off the reservation and didn't buy the recommended cable. That's the most common error people get when they buy the wrong one, which is why I can't understand why people keep doing this just to try to save a few bucks or get it delivered a little earlier.
Thanks for all the quick replies!
The car I'm trying to code is the one in my profile, I have the cable set to comport 1 and latency to 1, the ftdi driver download says it's Win7 compatible. I emailed the seller to see if they have a possible solution or if I should just send their cable back and get the recommended one.
Speaking of which can someone provide a link to the recommend/proven cable?
Thanks again

This is the cable I got and it works perfect. Make an offer for $85 and it will be accepted. the seller name is automotive-tool.

This link needs to be added to the OP.

Also reference this thread for using a program called NCS Dummy which makes using NCS Expert easier:

Looks the same as the one that I found but mine is $30 cheaper. Wonder what the difference is and if it will work the same

Saving a few bucks is not worth the hassle, people!

And the fact that cables might look the same is completely irrelevant. What matters is internal build quality and the chips being used on the circuit board -- not something you can tell from eBay pics.

Just completed coding the key FOB window close.....WOOHOO!!

On a side note the DIY needs to be changed. I do not have the BC_DIGITAL_V feature on my 2006 e90. It took me me like three tries before I realized that my car just doesn't have that feature.

Now I need to disable the cold light testing in preparation for my new LED tails and headlights with LED turn signals.

DIY states it is in the wrong module. BC_DIGITAL_V is actually in the KOMBI.

However I did find coding a MY 2006 with a production date of 5/2005 some kombi values were not there.

Check kombi though for that one
