I had to replace mine with only WW hose because that's all I could find in a pinch.
It's been around a month without issues. I need to replace but I've been lazy, |

I'm replacing mine since I'm at 50k miles, they look like they are getting brittle right in the spot the OP is talking about.

low boost no codes
I Love e90 post
The n54 low bost problem/ vacuum line fix at front of engine made my car run perfect. The dealer would not adrdess my poor performanc issues untill they had a engin fault code. Had they replaced the vacuum lines they would have charge 800 - 2000 dollars. Hoses are not covered under extended warrenty. My cost was 15 min of time and 5 dollers for tubing. |

I might sound ridiculous but what do you guys think of wrapping them with like foil to protect it against heat a little? and why isn't this stickied yet!? Last edited by iBoost; 03-13-2012 at 12:10 AM.. |

The foil may work, never thought of that.
This past weekend, I replaced all the vacuum lines on the passenger side with Turbosmart silicone lines. Not sure if the factory lines are rubber or silicone, but would guess the windshield washer lines were rubber, so these silicone lines should hold up better. There's 10' in the package and that's enough to do the passenger side, but not enough to do the driver side (lines to diverter valves, etc.), so another package is on it's way. I went with black, but they're also available in blue or red. Have a new razor blade handy to slice the old lines off the plastic fittings. The lines to the wastegates are difficult to see, but those are metal, so I just pulled those off and felt my way around to get the new ones on. Hopefully this will also help with this issue (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=612204), still have to see if the new lines affected that. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TBS-TS-HV0403-BK/ Here's a pic of all the old lines: |

I got 64k on my car and went to check these hoses. There was some rubbing on the fabric line but wasn't sure if it was cut in micro spots or something but changed them anyways. They were seriously hard too and possibly brittle but you cant really see under the fabric. Thanks a bunch for the post.

changed from BMS dual cones to back OEM air intake.
dont know if not properly installed OEM air intake can cause error P0174 System Too Lean (Bank 2) I have catless downpipes, BUT the lean error comes only from the cyl 4,5,6 side of a downpipe. Can i test easily and change the vacuum lines so that the error would maybe change to other downpipe..i mean are those 2 vacuum lines on the first page´s picture that i could swap and test? |

sold Cobb AP...maybe car´s battery connection off for 1 night does reset adaptations? i put allways 98octane to tank. P0174 and googled...says all over again most possible reason "vacuum line" leak or maf, but think N54 doesnt have maf..only TMAP or something.even mechanic says very possible vacuum leak, because the sensor which report this error is before the precats. |

well if this code started popping out after the new remap i am pretty sure thats the issue. if they tuned the car with the DCI and now you went stock the values are maybe screwed. big mistake going for a local remap instead of cobb. good luck.

vacuum lines aren't the only things that break, the fittings they plug into can also break, causing same problem.
this one broke on a boost control solenoid, result was a car with 1/2 engine light and no power.

This fixed my 30ff, underboost problem.
Thank you OP. One of my lines in your picture had split. You couldn't see it from the outside because of the braiding. Replaced these two lines and the other two lines going to the round canisters with Silicone vacuum lines from Summit Racing. Used a xacto knife to cut the original lines, very careful, and removed them. Cars running great now. I have a May 2007 Build with 75k miles.

I...
A: Am bored B: Need to stay up to make a flip to night shift for next week C: Happen to have several feet of 5/32" vac line in the garage. I just replaced all the vac line; the hoses you mentioned at that fitting (that appears to shoot off to the brake booster), both hoses that run to the wastegate actuators (front was a bit of a biatch), and the boost reverence hoses for the diverter valves. Fun fact: my rear diverter valve was loose in its fitting. That could have caused an issue, so OP, thanks for helping me find something to do to pass an hour or so! |

This helped me tremendously! Thank you so much. I come from a world of DSM's and am used to the old non-technological turbo days lol. This new age electronic stuff can be a bit challenging. When I got my 07 335i 2 weeks ago I bought it knowing it had a check engine code and I believe I got a great deal on it bc of that. Anyway, my symptoms were exactly like yours. I would get the infamous "engine malfunction" "reduced power" I left my car at a reputable shop for 3 days and he does work on foreign cars, but I guess not these newer aged ones. He couldn't figure it out. He said there is an electrical issue and was waiting to get the wiring schematics from the dealership. There is no BMW dealership close to me. I'd have to drive 3 hours to Lubbock or San Antonio TX. He said he was pulling a code he wasn't familiar with. So he probably didn't have the right equipment to read BMW codes. So I opted to just take my car home and see what I could find on my own. I knew my symptoms and knew I wasn't getting boost. So I searched Google and found lots of information. I'm pretty sure if I had a BT tool I would have been pulling the 30ff code I believe. I bought 4 ft of 5/32 vacuum line. I was letting a guy that does side work for me replace the vacuum lines. He followed the lines without taking the engine cover off just the two front screws off. He spotted a vacuum line unplugged and made sure it was snug. I took the car around the block and it blew my mind with the amount of power I had been missing the last couple of weeks. I couldn't believe I was without traction half way through second gear. Anyway, sorry for my rant, but I wanted to show my appreciation. I'm reading on here every day trying to get to know my car. My next step is the JB4!!!

oh yea stock tires suck. That explains why it was spinning so much through 2nd gear I'm sure... Probably need to think about tires along with the JB4. There's no use in making extra power if I can't keep the power on the ground.
