E90 335xi springs in a 335i

Hello,

I found a cheap set of H&R Sport Springs for a E90 335xi locally. I have a E90 335i, would the XI springs fit?

I understand that H&R has different part numbers for the 335i/xi with slightly different spring rates, but aside from that they are identical?

Thanks

Dunno -- wouldn't bother. Different spring rates mean different shocks needed; do you have a Sport suspension?

Why new springs?

I have sport suspension and will be replacing the shocks with Koni FSDs. I thought since I was in there I would swap the springs as well to firm up the car a bit. These springs are half the price of new, so it seemed worth considering.

Thanks

If not done, be very very good to yourself - replace wimpy rear subframe bushings w/M3 bushings. World o'diff! Easy to do if you rent the tool from HP Autosports - may as well get M3 bushings there too - I did.

That and FSD's w/Sport Suspension - you'll be pleased, I guarantee....

Garage List
While xi and rwd springs do interchange, I wouldn't use the H&R Sport xi springs on a rwd.

The front suspension is totally different from xi to rwd. The xi front suspension, at the same ride height as the rwd suspension, has less suspension travel. That's why from the factory the front of the xi rides so much higher.

The H&R Sport xi springs are designed specifically to not lower the front of the xi so much, so you have a decent amount of suspension travel left. This is unnecessary on rwd since it has more suspension travel at the same ride height, and just won't lower the front of your car much if at all.

If you want to shop around for cheap used springs, at least get some designed for the rwd version.
