Goodyear F1s vs Falken FK452?

Hi, can anyone tell me which one is better? I have seen that the F1 is overall rated #1 at CarandDriver and that it does depend on what kind of driver you are.. someone I found on another topic said this though :

"As for which one is better, you have to decide what is important to you. Drag racers like to have the most straight ahead traction, road racers like to have the most side traction for fast cornering, average drivers like good wet traction and long life. Most tires are a compromise, hard be good at everything."

Count me in as a mix of all three.. What I have on order is a set of Falken FK452s currently , but hopefully I can change them if I want to..

are both of these better than the stock 18'' tires (Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A) for Sports Package??

The Goodyear is much better than the Falken.

RE050A Pole Positions are supposed to be a great tire. They are the S0-3 replacements which are hands down better than the Goodyears. They wear like crap though.

I thought that the 18'' stocks tires (Sports package) was the worst out of the 3... you are saying it is better than the Goodyear F1s?

Many people will say the stocks are horrible because they are Run Flat tires. You can purchase the RE050's in the non RFT version.

Secondly, I doubt Bridgestone would scrap its Max Performance flagship tire (the S0-3) for a mediocre tire.

Any other recommendations? I'm not sure what to get.. so the F1 is better than Falken which is better than stock 18'' Bridgestone?

It really depends on what you want to do with your car. Are you trying to build an autocross car, roadcoarse, drag or just a street car that has decent grip. Most importantly, cost is a concern.

If you want a tire that performs in the dry and money is not an object, then I would tell you to get Michelin Sport Cup tires. But thats not a good recommendation.

I would spring for the Michelin PS2, Re050A PP's NON RFT, BFGoodrich TAKDW2's or the Goodyears. You wont be dissappointed with any one of those. I promise

probably more "sticking" to the roads and not bumping up and down.. especially over the speedbumps or potholes.. not sure if any tires can prevent this.. The Falken FK452s have 300 treadware and AA/A rating, and the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 hav 280 and AA/A rating..

I wouldnt pay too much attention to the treadwear ratings. I have had tires with a 140 rating last me 18k, and I have had tires with a 380 rating last me 7k.

I think the RE050 Pole Position and the RE050 RFTs have two different tread compounds, with the Pole Position better in the wet and maybe better in the dry. The RE050 Pole Positions are not available in our stock 18" staggered sizes (I think it is the rears that are unavail).

Gary, if you read this please help me out if I am wrong.

I think the RE050 (pole position or not) is a great tire for the E90. While there may be better tires out there for ultimate grip or ride comfort - I love the RE050 for its quite ride and great steering response.
