Difference in value selling this summer vs next summer
I have my E93 that i put up as a feeler...
If I could sell it this summer for $42K... what do you guys predict to be the value next year? I really want to keep it for another year, this things amazing - but I want to weigh the depreciation and if its something i'd be willing to take... I'm guessing it will be around $38K next summer... what are your thoughts? I don't mind that loss for 1 year use

Plus with the F30 coming out in not too long, it'll probably go down even more.

If I had to guess I'd say if it is (realistically) worth $42k now, it'll probably be worth 36-38k next summer. To give you an example, my 2007 e92 was worth ~36-37 last year, and it probably worth 32-34 now. Once you hit ~3 years the deprecation starts to level off. If it's a low KM car I don't think you'll take much of a hit in a year. You have a popular car too, AW/coral.

guys, the only thing I hate about is why bimmers go down a lot more than Lexus and other Japanese brand competitors?
are we not one of the best German made?

There is a strong perception (rightly or wrongly) that the costs of maintaining older BMW's (or any outside of warranty for that matter), can be prohibitive, so many look to the Japanese brands, which have a reputation for being similar in build quality, but less costly to maintain. One big thing both Japanese and BMW owners have going for them (in general) is that come the end of the product year, the manufacturers generally don't makes their vehicles available for next to nothing (ala GM and Ford), which kills the re-sale market values of older vehicles.... as the new ones are available for so little! |

I'm thinking a 3 year old e93 with low kms should sell (privately) in the low 40s but might take some time. a 4 year old e93 with low kms in the mid 30s but again might take some time to find a buyer. AW and coral is a popular colour so you might be able to get $1000 or more just based on popularity. What's your lease buy-out? |
