Anti-corrosive. I cleaned mine off well, no smell (after a while). Its just a heavy grease. If you think that is bad open up an old diff some time.

LOL im sure most of us didnt literally put the keys to our nose to smell it. you can smell it when you open it up especially if you havent opened it for a few years. i have comfort access so my key is always in my pocket.

If you pull out the key, it instantly smells, so you bring it closer to confirm the smell you just smelled was in fact the key, and then you put it away in disgust and think WTF why does my key smell like an old musty house.

who in the h*ll SMELLS their keys?

BTW, lithium grease is yellow in color and it does have a rather strange aroma.
I've used it on skylight latching h/w per the manufacturer's recommendation.

This!

Nobody (I'm going to give you all the benefit of the doubt) just thought, hmmmm, I wonder what my key smells like. The worst is if you have to use it (to say roll up your windows) and it gets on your hands. Then until you can get to a sink, you just have to endure the smell.

Who in the world smells their keys lol? Anyways, the yellow is just lubricant, everything that is inserted in a "hole" most likely need lubricant or else it won't come out easily.

Smells like cosmoline to me - not sure if you anyone knows what this is, but this is what the Eastern Bloc / Russian countries utilized to pack their firearms in during post-WW2. I kind of like the smell!
