I've had my 2007 330d M Sport for two days..
..and I think I'm smitten!
It was hard to let my 530i M Sport go but I think ive made the right decision. I was nervous! So I am now the owner of a 2007(07) 330D M sport 4 door 6 speed manual with 46k miles on the clock.. From what I can see it has got a decent amount of equiptment on it. As I am new to the 3 series I don't know what is standard and what isnt. I would like to know for future reference. 1. Idrive and professional sat nav - I know this is an extra 2. The 'rest' function on the climate system - what's that? 3. Rain sensor wipers 4. Head lamp wash 5. Leather interior 6. The door handles light up when I open the car 7. Rear parking sensors 8. Auto lighting Other than that it's got all the normal other stuff. I am surprised it doesn't have factory fitted xenon and angle eyes. I think I've got standard halogen and old skool side lights.. No electric memory seats. No front parking sensors. I am amazed at the fuel economy even around town! It's been owned from new by my mate who has looked after it meticulously for the past 5 years.. So I know it's a keeper. I have some initial questions for you guys: I enabled the running lights from the idrive menu and it works but all the dashboard lights illuminate.. Is that normal? Is it simply overriding the auto light function? Some cars I have driven in recent years have a running light function that only switches the headlights on leaving the tail lights and interior lights off. How do I know if I have the latest sat nav disk? Also is it constantly accessing it when using the sat nav? How does it update all the traffic info I can see.. Is that through my phone? What top up oil do I need to use? I've asked this on another thread. What are the options of upgrading my headlights? I am prepared to spend the money on BMW parts if it gets me xenon and angle eyes but I wouldn't know where to start. All I want is to be legal and have no issues with error codes. What do you suggest to keep an eye out for or are there any things that will delight me that I will experience this week as I use the car for work for the first time. I've had my E90 330d m sport 2 weeks now and I love it, near same spec as your but I've got Bluetooth and also mines an auto. Great cars. I've just got rid of a mk5 golf Gti, hated driving it towards the end, now I could drive this 330d all day.
Enjoy it mate |

When you turn the engine off if you are staying in the car the rest function uses the heat generated whilst driving to warm the car with engine off, useful if you are waiting for someone on a cold day.

The idrive/nav and leather are you only additional optional extras - everything else you have mentioned is standard on a 330d.
The Rest function gives hot air through the vents when the engine off. Not something you need this time of the year - but good in winter. On the LCI they changed the function of the button and labeled it "All". What this now does is give you the option to lock both passenger and driver air con temperature while you turn the knob. The pre-LCI does not do this. |

It allows you to use the car ventilation control when the engine not running. For instance you are waiting in the car for someone and need a bit of heat/air. |

Many thank yous..
So.. the motor is in beingh valleted.. I will take it up the park and get some piccies this arvo.. The old 530 passed the MOT with flying colours this morning and is now properly handed over to the new owner... I just hope this newer car serves me like the 530 did - I cant see why not (you look after them, they look after you). Tarbs |

nice looker, never been much a fan of that model, but yours seems to stand out very well.
Make sure to browse deeply into these forums, theres loads to know about these cars. i.e. security concerns etc Where do you find this "rest" feature, I dont think I've come across it yet |

I've done some minor mods.. Putting my own mark on the car so to speak..
Both front sidelights are now subtle white led. They look v good. I replaced the number plate lights with, again, white LEDs. For £4.99 off flea bay you cat go wrong. Both are CAN BUS compatible if you get the right ones! I've got a 2012 DVD disc for the idrive. It works, not sure I've noticed anything different. Still v happy. |
