changing oil at 7500miles....

what is the dealer going to say?

obviously they are not going to change it under the normal maintenance schedule and i will have to pay out of pocket

i just can't allow myself to go for normal schedule, i have just over 10,000 kms already and it says another 9000 till service due and its stressing me out thinking about going that long

is the dealer going to change it out no problem or are they gonna give me some bs?

thanks

How many MILES (not kilometers) do you drive per year? If about 12,000, youre OK. Especially with 100% full synth. No need to stress, Mike.

thx for the reply.... since i bot the car new in july 2013, i have 6400 miles on it.... but i am planning to drive more this year than last year

my last vehicle was an rx8 which uses non synthetic oil and changes are done religiously at 5000 miles so just by habit its hard for me to go so long between oil changes on my new car

thanks

As long as you're paying for it, the dealer should be more than happy to take your money.

With my first new 2002 330 I used to let the dealer do the oil based on the 18k CPU intervals.

After warranty expired I waited for CPU to prompt oil change after about 16k. I changed it myself an was shocked at how watery and thin the old oil was. After this I changed the oil religiously every 7k.

On my 07 335i I have changed the oil every 6k on average - with as hot as these engines get I don not want have old crap circulating in there. Recently changed my valve cover and the tech that helped me commented on how nice and clean the inside are, can tell I change it often because at the dealership the cars have some sludge and buildup when the covers are taken off.

OK, I dont know what year your rx8 was, but with a 2007, I doubt very much (I done have the particular specs available on your car) BM would suggest to use Dinasaur oil. You shouldbe using synth (again, double check for your car in your manual, or google it), and if you have good synth, you could go 1 full yr no propblem. If you want to use synth, you can, In my opinion only (opinions vary), and again, a yr is good.
