Fan running loud 08' 328i 106k

hey guys,

my fan just started to run really really loud today. 2008 328i no errors/lights. 106000km. drive to work was fine. then when i went for lunch, i could hear the fan.

starts up fine, runs normal then the fan kicks in after a while super loud. oil temp is normal. when i turn the car off, fan turns off as well.

tried to book an appt to see a mechanic, but nothings open until next weekend.

help?

do you have a scanner? Sounds like a water pump.

EDIT: Where in Toronto are you? Maybe if I'm around I can scan your car to see if there's something hidden.

I'm betting water pump though, usually fan kicks on full blast for a while followed by a awesome light on your dash and limp mode...

Mines been doing this for years in warmer weather. I used that diagnostic mode on the dash to monitor water temp and everything was fine. I think it's normal.

needs a new thermostat and a water pump. differential will also need replacing. I sold the car yesterday $20k. thanks family Honda!
