Years ago it worked great in my Subaru prior to adding meth injection... Not sure I would mess with it on this platform given the other options out there.

Xylene and toluene would both increase octane levels but are both cost prohibitive compared to e85.
They would also be very harsh on any rubberized components in the fuel delivery system with any regular use.

That stuff destroys rubber. And is more dangerous than handling meth. U have to use large quantities to get octand effect. Gas already has toluene in it from what I know. Your fuel fumes will smell really bad as well. I used it on an old Subaru I had as well.

I used it for years with my Eclipse, Supra, GTO and Mustang. It is in gas already and is safe in moderation. My mix was 1 gal Xylene or toluene to 10 gal 93oct gas, pretty much makes you 110 octane if memory serves me correctly. it is rather an expensive alternative to e85 now that that is readily available.

If you're really that desperate to up your octane, save yourself the trouble and buy race gas. There is no arguement that can justify running 100 octane instead of 93 while daily driving.

We have 100 octane street legal race gas at the Sunoco station on Beach Blvd, just west of Southside Blvd near the animal shelter. Also we have E85 available in Yulee and MacClenny which are not too bad of a drive depending on what side of town you are in.

It's VERY unhealthy in high concentrations. However, use neoprene gloves and a respirator and you'll be OK as exposure is limited.
It works very well as an octane booster(already in use in gasoline/race fuels also was used by INDY and F1.) Google toluene mixing charts and you'll get some info on mixing it for desired octane |

The deal is that it can be had cheaper than E85, if purchased in large quantities. If you go to the local paint supply and buy it by the gallon (or 5 gallons) the price is very high. If you have a source that buys it by the Pallet (multiple drums) it can be purchased very cheap.

Try looking up or buying a bottle of TORCO ACCELERATOR. I use the 32oz bottle mixed with 10 gallons of 93. Never an issue and by their charts raises the octane to around 100-105.
It is about 25 bucks a can (20 if you become a "dealer" by just giving them a business license #) and is a great alternative to race gas. Ive used it in my 2011 5.0 Mustang and also the N54 BMW. I tend to keep a bottle in the trunk, too, incase you get stuck out in who knows where and the only fuel available is 87... Good luck. |
