Professional radio with built in bluetooth
Guys, i have a 2006 with no factory nav or bluetooth. I noticed the thread/Youtube video (thanks Jose JN) on fitting the newer professional head with the built in bluetooth & USB connectivity. Found one on german ebay and bought it.
Connected it all up and it is working without coding but the voice control is in German. Contacted BMW to ask about coding and they say they cant do it. So, anyone in the Central Scotland area that would be able to update the car and get rid of the Fräulein. (payment involved of course) Highly recommend this upgrade btw. virtually plug and play (you have to run a new cable between the new microphone in the light panel and head unit, and a new USB cable from under the arm rest (or glovebox depending on your current socket location) to the head unit. I now have factory bluetooth and USB socket for audio. Thanks ! |

More info on the head unit please.
I would be interested in this upgrade. Have you got any part numbers or pics etc? |

See here:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=ipod+retrofit Have a look on German Ebay as there are plenty of the head units for sale and the rest of the bits you get from BMW. |

Ask another dealer? I had an E60 in Germany and went from Radio Professional to Professional Nav. The way it worked was I first took the car to BMW to update to the latest software*, then retrofitted the sat nav overnight and took the car to BMW the following day to program the new unit with the specs of the car. I wonder why this wouldn't work for the 3 series (obviously I'm extrapolating here).
*It was a necessary step to first update the car to the latest software _before_ the retrofit coding. |

I also have a 2006 m sport that has the professional head unit with no Bluetooth option, however it does have the phone symbol on the head unit and steering wheel, also there is a wired mic in the roof. I assume that the head unit and steering wheel phone symbols are standard regardless of the units coding to have bluetooth, however does anyone else have the microphone also?
I have a suspicion that a retrofit system was fitted at some point and removed before I bought the car. Also if it was an after market kit how is there anyway I can tell what kit it was so that I can purchase the same system and plug it into my motor. Thanks in advance sorry if this is a sort of hijack, tried to create my own thread however I could as I'm a stinky noob |
