[Red Ice BMW]

Hi guys, my shadowline trim (I think its called this, the window trims in black) is quite discoloured. Is there a way of restoring this or is a new set required?

someone told me t-cut works...thought this was odd and havent tried myself, so apologies if this is duff info...

Mine looked like it had watermarks through it - once I'd properly polished and waxed it though, it came up lovely

Mines is like the colour water goes when petrol/diesel etc. mixes with it. I think I'll give it a polish and see

Apparently its something to do with what BMW use to clean the cars the first time round, (can't say how true this is, info comes from a detailer) but in any case its something to do with the cleaning method someones used on it.

Any polish will fix it and what ever you do DONT use T-cut.

Nice one mate, I bought it as an approved used from a BMW dealer and they said they machine polished it etc. before I collected so it may well be this. Hopefully a good polish will sort it then.

They will have probably "mopped it" not machine polished it All garages get easily mixed up with the terms . But its an easy fix with some normal car polish after all its only painted, you could do it by hand as it will get you a good enough finish.

Thats not so bad, so worse case scenario if they are wrecked I could just have them repainted? Yeah I doubt it was machine polished but that was me quoting the sales guy haha!

nah won't be ruined they just need a light hand polish will take you 30min max

It's usually old polish or oxidation.

I use either Clearkote Vanilla Moose...

Honestly, use that for EVERYTHING that's black & plastic, inside and outside the car. It's brilliant.

sounds like that could be true, the guy who is detailing mine this week told me exactly the same thing.
