Noisy HP Plus pads ... ?
I just switched to some HP Plus pads to give me some better stopping power on the track and just breaking them in.
They are noisy as hell for any kind of city driving. Does anyone have any experience with them that they can share?

Hawk pads are generally pretty noisy on the streets... Cool Carbon pads have the best formula to eliminate the noise during city driving, but giving you the best performance out of a pad on the track at the same time.

Hawk HPS are not noisy since they're made for street duty. HP Plus pads are indeed noisy, if you check Hawk's own website they do note that rotor wear, dust, and noise will be compromised for better friction. Every brake pad is a compromise, you just need to pick one you're comfortable with. |

If I wanted a quick sale, I could have just contacted the OP personally bad mouthing Hawk saying their pads don't work, but instead I'm informing him that certain Hawk pads make noise, such as joonsup stated as well. If you have an issue with my post, I apologize, but this information should be known before purchase, it's unfair to the customer. |

I put them in for track in reality hoping that they would be ok for DD duty. I'll switch them out for my OEMs after my next event for DD. Quote:

Hawk pads are sensitive to proper bed-in procedure. If your Hawk street pads (like HPS and the performance ceramic) squeak or squeal with street use, they're usually not bedded in properly (same could be said for just about any pad, really).
Hawk HP Plus is their lower end track pad. As with ALL track pads, noise and dust levels are somewhat less of a concern. Anyone using HP Plus (or any track pad, for that matter) exclusively on the street SHOULD expect a lot of noise. My cool carbon R/T makes a ton of noise when driven on the street too. It's a fact of life with high metallic content pads. |

I have a friend who's running the Hawk HPS pads which are meant for street use and according to him they don't squeal. He said they performed pretty well at the track too. So if you insist on staying with Hawk pads maybe the HPS is the way to go...and they are cheaper than than the HP Plus

They work pretty good for auto-cross though, since you don't really use the brakes as much and for as long as you would on a track. |
