Question Question about LED bulbs and error codes

I replaced my license plate bulbs with LEDs and now I have a "bulb out" error code every time I turn the car on or off. I know that all I have to do is replace the bulbs with higher quality ones that won't cause an error code. But the reason that triggers a code in the first place is because license plate lights are required by law to illuminate your plates.

I want to change my reverse lights to LEDs, and I'm not sure if it's required by law for those bulbs to work. Will I get an error code if I do this? What about the interior map lights?

The interior bulbs wont give an error. I think the reverse lights will throw errors :/

You need to buy bulbs from reputable sellers. EBAY bulbs are mostly junk. If you want no problems buy from High Performance Bulb.com. They stand behind what they sell and you will not get error codes.

OP the "bulb out" error is caused by a drop in resistance between the LED bulb and the standard incandescent bulb that was OEM. The OBC monitors resistance in the lighting circuits to tell the driver if any bulbs are out, the problem with this when switching to LED is that there internal resistance is a lot lower than the standard bulbs, thus causing the OBC to think one of your bulbs has burnt out.

So then canbus bulbs add resistors to the LEDs to make them the same resistance as incandescent bulbs, right?
