Water Pump & Thermostat Replacement - Tampa

Has anyone in the Tampa (Westchase) area had to replace their water pump and thermostat and would be willing to lend a hand? I am more than willing to pay for some assistance. My car just over heated on the way back from the grocery store. Going to call around tomorrow for the parts. I just read over the DIY and I'm pretty sure I can tackle it myself but having someone that has done this before would be a huge help.

Thanks!

I don't think he's looking for the best deal on the parts but someone to help with the install. Good luck man.

Thanks @JStang. What is the name of the place you took your car to get your valves cleaned, head gasket replaced, etc..? I'll probably give them a call to get quote. Right now the parts alone are just under $600 so if they can do it for around $1000 or so it's worth it. I called Reeves and Lutz Performance and they both quoted me over $1400.

And I did some shopping around and @LocDawgg was correct. The site he suggested (thebmwpartstore.com) was the cheapest by about $40.

European Performance St. Pete http://www.europeanperformancefl.com/

I think their hourly rate is $95.00.

That's odd. My friends e92 broke down conveniently right off i75 half a mile from reeves and it was a water pump failure. They replaced the water pump and thermostat for $1000 out the door and they finished it in less than 3 hours. Best deal I've heard of from a dealership price

same here Reeves did mine for exactly $1080 with tax. I will try to find the receipt and take a pic see if they will price match? who knows.

These part numbers are correct. Keep in mind you'll want two bottles of coolant for a 50/50 mix in the system. Being in Florida you could go weaker as temps rarely drop to freezing. If you need help sourcing parts shoot me a PM I'll be happy to help you.

Also another shop to check out if you choose to not DIY this, Lutz Performance over on Dale Mabry, they have some great mechanics over there.

That would be awesome if you could find a copy of the receipt. I appreciate you guys helping out. $1000 or $1100 is much better than $1400+.

Thanks!

James,

I truly appreciate your response and for confirming the part numbers. If I do decide to DIY I'll definitely get a hold of you. Might take it to Reeves if they can do it for $1000 as stated above. Unfortunately, I called Lutz this morning and I was quoted for parts, labor, and tax came out to $1421. I've heard really good things about Lutz from other members, but have never used them myself. Again I truly appreciate your response.

FWIW with Reeves, if your mileage is over 75k, they have a "75k club discount" of 15pct, helped me recently replacing my starter. I bought my car there, but if you have miles it might help to mention.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately my car is just under 70k.
