My 335Xi has 147,000 miles.
I recently replaced valve cover, oil filter housing and cleaned the intake Valves. Replaced plugs, coils and injectors. Replaced stock panel filter with K&N
Is it Safe to run an AP at 147,000 miles? |

Absolutely...internals are very strong and you've replaced all the possible suspect pieces. Enjoy

its had it all the last 15,000 miles I put more work into my car than I have any car before. Water pump and thermostat at 126,000 Complete flush of every fluid in my car every single one has been changed. Brake fluid, Center diff, front and rear diff you name it I had it changed. My oil was changed 4 times in 35,000 miles. Serpentine belt and belt tension-er cabin filer, drop in filter and Mechatronics sleeve 2 times first one still leaked. And replace up and down o2 sensors.

131k miles here. It's refreshing to hear that N54 can last if well maintained as yours. I salute you. I only wish I have half the mechanical skills as you (I assume you DIY most of the maintenance). Are the turbos original?

i intend to hit 150k miles on my 335i. Right now at 64k. Hoping for little problems.
Already took care of oil filter housing gasket. Expect water pump, serpentine belt (100k) and valve cover gasket later on. Other than that, I don't see much other critical failures. Maybe the radiator will blow up since those usually go out in year 9 or 10 on japanese cars. |

the turbo's are original.
And No I seem to only do the time consuming work Actually the only thing I actually did to my car was the intake valves, Battery replacement, Door seals shocks and springs and sway bar bushings. Everything to do with the engine before that point was done by the dealer. I used the car for long drives to and from work and I noticed the problems either at work or day before work. So I had to let the dealer do it and just take satisfaction in knowing I had 2 years warranty in the work. |

awesome sauce. there was some idiot in the tristate thread that posted his car was old because he had 60k miles on it, sorta hoped something would break so he could throw a hissy fit and gtfo our community.
ps, ive had 5 cars ive owned go above 140k, love to see an n54 doing the same.

I would say yes. This engine seems to be built like a tank. My POS neon has been modded since day 1 and is at 132k miles and still going strong.

It seems like you've cared for your car, assuming all the fluids and whatnot check out, up that boost and timing! The block is extremely robust, there's not much to worry about there unless you're interested in setting N54 WHP records. No reason why the motor can't make it well past 150K, in fact i'd be dissapointed if it couldn't.

i dont get some people when they say that good to hear that this car can go past 100k or 125k miles...how short do you think these cars are gonna last? I dont know any cars that wont last under 200k now.
Hell I know someone that had a 2000 ford taurus rarely changing fluids that lasted til last year at 225k miles...so for our 335i's especially without a tune seriously how can it not last over 200k...i think with all my tunes and as hard as i push my car its gonna last me over 250k miles. tell you the truth if my car breaks before 150k and i know i push my car hard ill never buy another bmw (unless obviously i money shift or something and its completely my fault)
