I've seen a lot of guys mount their V1 on the rear windshield then the concealed display somewhere in their coin holder, dash etc.

I've personally used a V1 for a 3-4 years. Great product, saved me a dozens of times. In my opinion, if it saved you even ONCE, it paid for itself. Only thing with radar detectors is that they don't go off ALL the time like most people expect them to. Even if a cop is around, there isn't a guaranty that it'll alarm you. It's something that's very handy to give you a heads up but you can't depend on it.

1) quoted for truth

2) that's because it's not a "cop detector".

Here is how I mounted mine using an Inviscord (fused version).

Hangs at the perfect level to hit the buttons and be out of your way.

^^^ maybe it's the camera angle but the RD does not look level which will impede performance.

My radar detector is positioned just to the right (and above) my rear view mirror.

Please note that you want your radar detector in this car to be as high as possible (for maximum range), and most importantly LEVEL. A radar detector tilting slightly up or down will also lose range (and not be as effective as one that is perfectly level)

Hope this helps,

escort9500xi hardwired above and to the right of the mirror. Seems to pick up all signals just fine. Its great because I set it and forget it... unless it doesnt want me to forget it

Have it implanted behind your eyeball

That's what I did

+1 to right next to your rear view mirror. I have it on the right side of the mirror.

Anyone know if the V1 or 9500xi work for speed cameras as those seem to be the primary source of catching speeders here in Germany. Yes I also know the radar detectors are illegal here but maybe I can hide it well enough with help of this thread

9500ix is what you want for speed cams in the states. IDK if you can get one with european data base. I don't see it on escorts website.

I had the Cobra 9500x (or ix cant remember)... anyone know which is 'better' or more effective, that or the V1? Using the 9500 in the new 335x sound good or should I get a V1?

Also hardwiring? Any tutorial DIY for that? Can a cop give you a hard time for having this up (in New York)? Consensus seems to be 50/50....

Here's my setup. Although I'll need to try to work on hiding the power cable via headliner/hard-wire method. Works great thus far... and does not affect the passenger side sunshade...

Hardwired passenger visor mount is the best IMO, no need for brackets or suction cups or coiled cords and cant be seen from the outside, run the wire down the A pillar to the fuse box and mount the remote on the left side of the center console.
