Continental Extremecontact DW or Hankook Evo2
So i just bought a set of 19's and need some new rubber. going to go with
235/35/19 and 265/30/19. the hankooks and the contis are within 20$ of each other for the set. wondering if anyone has owned both. currently have 225/40 and 255/35/18 in the hankook evo2 and really like them. did 2 track days and they were fine. on the street they are more than capable. i think i paid less than 600 with the rebates back in june, so there was nothing really close to the price. i saw the review tirerack did last year and they rated the contis higher. i would say thought that i have found the hankooks to be excellent in the rain and tirerack rated them a little lower. i have had hankook evo1, evo2, michelin ps2, pirelli pzero, kuhmo ecsta spt, and general tires just for reference. also any insight from gary@tirerack is also welcome |

I've ran both and have heard quite a few reviews from our customers. These two tires, I'd say, are neck and neck. I'd give the slight edge to the Contis due to my experience with them in "unlike-summer" conditions. For consideration, I've also noticed the Hankooks run just slightly smaller than advertised.

i cant complain about the evo2's, i do want a comfortable quiet tire as i am nervous about going to 265/30/19 and 235/35/19 from 18's. might be good they run a little small though because i want to put them on 19" wheels on a 135i. though i did notice the contis are very light from checking the spec sheets. i will say though this weekend it was 25 degrees outside and me and an e92 m3 were having some fun and 2nd and 3rd gear the rear end was just dancing.

I'm in the same boat as you. Currently running Style 230s (19x8 F, 19x9 R) w the OEM RFTs. Looking for a non-RFT tire and considering sizing up from the stock options (225/35/19 & 255/30/19 to 235/35/19 & 265/30/19).
Considering both options as well and would like others opinions on the Contis Vs. Hankooks. Looks like both tires are very similar so will most likely purchase the cheaper option once i'm ready to pull the trigger. |

I have the same specs on my conti DW's, I say they can't be beat for the price point. Excellent wet traction, and perfectly quiet ride. And just and fyi the DW's seem to have a more angled sidewall than some similar tire so you can probably run a 275 in the rear if you wanted. 265's will not protect your wheel lips at all.

I have had both and they are pretty equal with the Contis getting a slight edge in my opinion for better condition based handling and they a wear a little better. I know you don't want to hear this, but the Michelin Pilot Super Sports put both of them to shame and that is what I would buy. The PSS is in another class of tire. I have them in 19s on my 335 and they are the best tire I have ever had.
