Unhappy E92 Electric Mirrors

I bought a a 320d M Sport Coupe from Evans Halshaw back in Feb. The driver side mirror was always in a good spot for me so I have no reason to move it.

I let me missus drive it the other week and she noticed that while the passenger side mirror will move using the buttons on the driver door, the driver side mirror wont move.

My mirrors dont fold in so havent got that issue but I also noticed, now that its icy, that it doesnt clear the condensation/ice like the passenger side does.

Any help?

Could be an electrical connection issue. No power to the mirror, so no movement and the heating element isn't activating to demist...

Bit obvious but did you flip the switch to operate the passenger side?
Although that wouldn't account for the glass not defrosting.

I’d say get the doorcard off and check the connection. If that’s ok (test the wires to see power coming in) then the mirrors knackered and will need replacing.

I can see that you can buy different backs to the mirrors so I was thinking that that I just take off the back and check the motor? Would it be better to take off the door card?

The connector itself is behind the doorcard hence the suggestion. Yeah think you can remove the mirror cover itself but unsure what visibility you’ll have to the wiring to check. Might be worth a go though.

I'll probably have a look tonight after work. On a similar note, I noticed that the two speakers on the driver side has stopped working as well... when I put the balance to all the way right nothing comes out.

Do you reckon that it is related?

I always keep my settings on AUX but accidentally pressed into radio on the way home and found that the music was coming from all speakers.

After driving around for months thinking 2 speakers had either blown or there were further electrical issues, it turns out the AUX wire was crap....

Until you replied with the below I would have suggested checking the connection block to the actual door but now just check the mirror connector lol.
