Thanks
if cic reserved ip address you do not need zgw_search
zgw_search is used when you do not have dhcp in your network and you need to know which address is cic is assigned to ethernet without dhcp

OK thanks. That makes sense. My issue now is WinKFP does not see any ECU when I select Choose ZUSB. I have changed config to be on ENET. Should I see a module list like I do on ODB?

Thanks

Multiple people have done this and there's no step by step instruction. Please take photos and document as much as you can. Please.

do not connect CIC to home router nor router with switch
connect it direcly to coding pc, or to switch to which only coding pc and cic connected
do not setup any ip address on coding pc ethernet interface connected to cic or switch with cic
after that windows on coding pc and cic assign ip addresses from APIPA range and zgw_search will work

also for zgw_search to work multicast should be allowed on firewall
so when you setup security level after new connection configured select work, not home or public profile

It looks like you know how to do this and are intimate with the detail. If you have some time would you be able to write down steps with do's and don'ts?
It would be appreciated by the community as we are all in the same boat here. I myself haven't updated my CIC because i cant find clear instructions. I have found the other forum for coding but i cant seem to post and its hard to put everything together from random posts

How old is that post? Friend of mine had used CIC retrofit coded last year remotely. No emulator. He was send this D-Link device. I contacted the coder since I needed help as well but hit a brick wall. Not sure why? Guy didn't engage me at all. So probably there are more possibilities with this. Like activation as well.

The USB to ethernet adapter can be used to connect to the CIC and view files. As far as I know, you can't update the firmware using the USB.

Do F series CIC units have newer firmware than E series units?
I upgraded my car in 2015 and then checked for a WinKFP update in 2017 (using newer Daten,) and nothing was found.

I'm trying to get RTTI to work with assist, and would like to have the newest CIC firmware.

I'm already on C1A and have more options in the TRC files than BMW Coding Tool can work with, using 2017 datens.

Well I decided to be brave and try this out. Turns out that was a bad idea. I have a 2010 so my car was already wired for enet. I was able to successfully connect with the CIC in winkfp and start the update. The progress was incredibly slow. I suspect it's the same speed as a k+dcan cable would be. And of course after 8-10 hours, it failed. I tried 3 times. I ended up having to purchase an ICOM in order to revive the unit. Luckily the failed update didn't brick the CIC and it was back up and running in probably 30-45 minutes. Anyway, just a word of caution to anyone who might come across this thread like I did.

Bumping this thread. Anyone have a good ICOM clone seller that they'd recommend?

I've not heard of clones working very well.

90% users of the icoms on forums and in indy shop use icom clones
and only official shops and some individuals have original icoms
the problem is that cheap icom clone sellers sell icom from chinese factory and other buy such icoms, fix all their problems (bad soldering, radiators, dcan trancievers) test them and sell tested icoms with premium

Any recommendations for an A2/B seller?

I got my OEM Icom for $800 from my dealer. It was not that hard.
