Thumbs up What I did for my car today

Okay guys...no biggie but this is what i did for my car today @ 134,564 miles

Keep in mind everything is working fine and had no problems but did them for added peace of mind:

- installed new waterpump, thermostat, coolant expansion tank, upper & lower radiator hoses along with new cooling temperature sensor
- refill with new coolant
- installed new gasket for oil filter housing canister (had visible leak from that area)
- changed the oil & filter
- rotated all 4 tires
- change & refill with new pwr steering fluid
- change & refill with new brake fluid
- installed new rear brake pads & rotors
- installed new air and cabin filters
- refilled new freon for the a/c

A long day as my mechanic had the car for awhile...it wasn't cheap but hopefully all of this will pay off in having a dependable car for the long run..

Updated pics of my ride..

I also added a leather steering wheel cover made by Wheelskin and stitched it together.

Took me some time but worth the wait

I was under the impression that you did all this stuff yourself in a day when I was reading this and I was impressed!

Any chance we can get a breakdown of what it cost? I just purchased mine, and even though it's still under warranty, I'm trying to (mentally) prepare for that day when it's not.

I paid close to $1,500 for all the stuff done to it. I purchased all the parts online and paid my mechanic (indy) for the labor.

Two great sources of oem parts are:

www.thebmwpartstore.com

www.getbmwparts.com

For my brakes, I went with www.autopartswarehouse.com as I prefer Centric brake pads & rotors.

Total for the parts on the cooling system came out to $670, which consist of new waterpump, thermostat, hoses, temp sensor, coolant expansion tank, cap, coolant, & other miscellaneous parts.

Total for the filters, fluids, and oil are about $100.

Brake parts came out roughly close to $140.

The remaining difference was for labor which included tires rotated & a/c recharge.

Aside from what I paid for, just remember your labor rates may vary based on your area and depending who works on your car. Make sure you don't go to the dealer if your out of warranty, find a good indy mechanic.

Also, you have a 335... which is an upgraded model compared to the 325 I have. On the 335's, make sure you keep an eye out for the turbos & the fuel pump. The brakes are a little more $ compared to my car but their bigger & better.

Other 335 members: please feel free to chime in if i'm missing anything.

The bottom line is as long as you take care & keep up with the maintenance on your car, you can avoid most the expensive repairs down the road and your 335 will last a long time
