Anti-bug mode for scoops

Many of you complain about scoops, because the may sucks more bugs into intake and there is no noticeable gains except good look for the car. Probably all of it is true, but for the look and maybe some little extra air for engine I decided to buy them and modified. I installed mesh in front of the scoops with small screws on a sides to hold the mesh in one place. After all I painted new scoops in black. Here is few pics how does it look like before and after installation.

Nice! Although I've never seen bugs in my intake after 1.5 years of having scoops.

Also, I really like the f82 kidneys. Classy.

Where did you find them? The snorkel? The filter?

So from the looks of it you are not using the scoops for the looks since they are not visible.

If bugs are that much of a issue in your area, they will clog up that mesh. I think it would be a lot easier to just pop open the air filter and clean them from there rather than having to take out the scoops to clean the mesh.

They are a visible for me. If I would want to show them more I would use red paint on them : )
NO bugs are not an issue, but I just want to prevent from them or small rocks. I can clean easy that mesh with air pressure gun.

The filter when I was running a stock airbox. Keep in mind though I do drive through a mile or two of country roads surrounded by farm land/bee keepers on my way to and from work so I guess that could be a major factor lol.

The bugs won't get past the filter. Just check or change the filter more frequently. It is a lot easier with the Euro or AFE airbox than the stock N52 box, which has to be completely removed to change the filter.

Yup, Euro box is very easy to work with.
