It is real quality - just look at what comes in the kit in my photo. The BMW Performance one was second option but an unknown to me. Based on personal experience, stay away from the cheap stuff as it will ruin the feel of your car and will be nothing but frustration. Just going for the shorter stubby gear knob and nothing else also improves the feel quite a bit - and is cheaper too!
Hmm I may just have to get myself one!

Another small item

I decided to go for a set of these, just to try something other than the BMW Performance set.

Not bad! I mainly went for the bmw items as if they are genuine items you may have more of a chance in the shitty scenario of an insurance co not paying up if you ran up the arse of a car and they stated the pedals had been modded.

Unlikely I know, but the logic still has merit....

Yes, it is a concern. I went for something similar in my previous car and that was given the OK by my insurer. But who knows, can you trust them when the time comes ...?

Also, there is a myth out there saying pedals must have rubber grips to be legal - WRONG!! At least not here in the ACT.

I managed to have a couple of items installed today. The new steering wheel feels great; the DCI makes the right noises The DCI sure makes easier access for the ER CP and Forge DVs which are on their way.

How did you go installing your afe intake?

Took me a few hrs and its a damn tight fit! the weather is shit here today so I havent driven the car to see what difference it makes, albeit im not expecting huge gains!

That rear clamp is a bugger to tighten up correctly!

Mate in essence its a simple bloody DIY, but I had difficulty with the bolt you use to fasten the housing to the inlet pipes. It just would not line up...

After much assing about I thought stuff this bent it out and then bang it went together easily! Somehow my housing must have been bent during postage....

aFes should be pretty easy to install... you removed the microfilter and rear cowl right?

around 1 hr is right if you haven't done it before.

Well, when I said "I", I really did not mean I did it personally! Fortunately, a mate did it for me on his RDO while I was at work!! Apparently, the intake and wheel was done in an hour - but he is much more mechanically minded than I ever will be ....

Taste of carbon

New cosmetic additions are carbon mirror covers and the M3 rear lip spoiler by BMW Performance. That spoiler looks so much better than I had expected - I did not have any idea that it had quite a complex shape to it. Thanks goes to Stuart at BMRAW for sourcing it for me.

It's been a while ...

It has been a while since my last update - it has been a case of waiting for stuff to arrive. I am waiting on some engine related hardware to arrive but I finally have something new to report on. I guess in the scheme of things it not a biggie but has me excited something is happening!

Bilstein B12 kit only took 5 days from the US, which was awesome. Consisting of B8 shocks/struts valved by Bilstein to match Eibach Pro-Kit springs. I concluded it was perfect for my needs and that of a road car (i.e. a car I don't think I will ever track), giving me the handling and ride height improvements I am after. Not the most exciting of photos as I figured it would be a PITA to repack into the box!

I have also finished with the interior now the pedals have been installed. The fit was great and simple as a drilling template was provided with the kit. The grip on the soles of shoes is as good as you would hope for whether your shoes are wet or dry.
