Are there any prominent Italian figures in the US that can be respected? Media makes it seem like all Italians are scum like those from Jersey Shore.

Amadeo Giannini was the founder of Bank of Italy which later became BofA... But you wouldn't know anything about that because you play around on E-trade all day thinking you are Gordon Gecko.

Was it necessary to call Italians scum? For some reason that one felt a little over the line.

Hey I've been reading around these forums for the last week or so and finally made an account today. Just so you guys know there are now 3 Italians on this board and I figured this thread would be a good intro. I don't have a 135i yet but I plan on buying one in 10 months or so.

As for this Italian thread I figured I'd chime in.

Born in raised in Queens NY (although I will be moving to CT soon for a job), apparently I have a pretty heavy NYC accent, hate self tanner blowout guidos (although had a little bit of a phase in jr. high), and the olive garden is obviously not real Italian food. As for Italian figures in the US, there are plenty. How about Lee Iacocca?

I'm actually defending Italians. All I'm saying is that the media is giving Italians a bad image.
