What would you ask? Valuation guidance.
I've had a look at both the BMW AUC site, and Autotrader, and there's not a lot to compare against,so what sort of money would you be asking for this:
BMW 335d M-Sport Coupe 2dr 2008 ('58' Nov Registered) 33,100 mls 1 yrs MOT from Nov 2012 5mths road tax Full BMW service history, Azurite Black Metallic paint Cream Beige Dakota leather BMW Individual Piano Black with inlay Navigation-system Professional BMW Assist, BMW Assist online portal Enhanced Bluetooth telephone functionality SA3 Pricing Rule for 620 Voice Control Front Armrest with sliding adjustment Auto transmission with paddle shift M Sport leather steering wheel, Electric Folding Exterior Mirrors Heated Front Seats with driver memory Sun protection glass M light-alloy wheels double spoke 225M Rear-view mirror automatic dimming Park Distance Control (PDC) rear Rain sensor with automatic headlight activate Automatic Air Conditioning Cruise control In excellent condition. £xxxxxx ? Many thanks in advance.

Extended warranty?
My gut feel is about £17k-18k.

No extended warranty, although that's easily organised.
It's not something I previously considered,as the car was extensively modified, and the extended warranty would be a waste of money. I was hoping, perhaps naively, for a bit more than 18K

I think more like 20-22. Had the ideal spec without anything 'over and above', it's a D which adds way more onto an I than most of us I owners want to admit and it is one of very few with reasonable mileage.
If it has the newer nav (which I don't suppose it will) then mores the better, but just having it will be enough for most buyers. Matt |

I would reckon 17-18k is not a bad shout, perhaps even a bit optimistic. As we know options count for very little in real money terms but perhaps attract a buyer. Nav is one of the few exceptions which of course does add a bit of money. Wouldn't bother listing the items in your list above which are standard equipment, people get bored reading a list and can miss out on the things that are genuine extras that distinguish your car.
The market will decide its worth anyway once you post it up. |

BMW approved cars of similar age/mileage going for £21k - with discounts, warranty and Part Exchange yours will be worth £2k less in my opinion.
But yours is a very high spec in a desirable colour combo, £20k might be about right.

It does have the newer sat nav, fortunately the car was at the very beginning of the manufacturing line that benefitted from this newer system. Quote:

Thanks for the input so far Guys, perhaps I could ask this question: What amount of mark up would you expect a BMW dealer to put on a car that he had bought outright,no p/ex? I won't mention a figure I've been offered,as I don't want to influence any answers. Thanks

Birds were looking for stock couple of weeks back sent me an email and creepy coupe started a thread here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=769363 Might be worth giving Jason a Call if your looking for a quick sale but this time of year don't think anybody will give strong money if it's just for stock Good Luck

£21k would be pushing it for a private sale. £19k - £20k would be more like it - with that spec and mileage.
I would expect a dealer to put and asking price of £3k - £4k on top of what he paid you for it. |

Dealer will firstly factor in fictional average refurb costs of £1500, if your car doesn't need refurb then thats extra profit. Then they would seek about 20% on top of that.
Therefore say they give you 16k for your car, that turns into a 21k asking price, they drop a bit off this but if they have saved on refurb its smiles all the way. If it sits around a while this again eats into their profit in extra depreciation but again there is plenty of room to move. |

Ian,
There have been some real good feedback above, so i cant really add to that. But I will say is, If your selling privately, many people go to view the car and then are sold on both the car and the buyer. Your a nice guy and therefore coupling your nature and that the fact your not in a rush you might aswell start high in your pricing. Why not? Good quality well looked after cars deserve a premium. All the best mate. |
