2009 335i 6MT w/ JB3 v1.22
Just installed JB3 v 1.22 in my car last night. Install was very straight forward. The only map I've tried is map 4.... all I have to say is WOW... I lose traction in first gear at around 5-6k RPM Time for bigger tires I suppose
No codes or CELs or any problems with 2009 335i 6MT |

Make sure you don't use map 6 or higher if you don't have octane 93 or over....Map 7 or 8 you need 97 oct or higher if not, then You will be getting what Terry said "superknocking" which IMO would not be good for the engine..People should not even play around with maps 6 or 7 IMO....I heard of some OP's using map 6 with 91 octane, thats just crazy man....Don't mess with the instructions that Terry has stated, if so you will be playing with fire!

Thanks for the advice. I don't plan on going past map 4.. which is plenty for me... but then again.. I originally told myself I wouldn't mod this car. Just curious.. how do JB3 owners do 0-60 runs? It seems that if I floor first gear at any mph.. the car will lose traction at around 5-6k RPM. I have stock Michelin runflats. Do you guys just shift earlier? |

Say I'm at 20mph and then decide to floor it. The car accelerates nicely, then at around 5-6k RPM in first gear (don't know what MPH that is), it loses traction. So my question was, to avoid wheelspin at the tail end of the RPM band in first gear, do you guys shift at a lower RPM to second gear? I'm not sure if its different for autos vs 6MTs.. I'm in irvine as well and was thinking about the jb+ but if you don't have any problems with the jb3 I may go that route

hey man, welcome. You need to learn to feather the gas to be right on the brink of breaking the tires loose. A little spinning is fine, but you dont' want to break them loose and roast them.
Once you mod the car more...which you probably will, you'll start to have problems with traction in 1st,2nd, and 3rd if you go nuts. my car doesnt have full traction until mid 3rd gear, its nuts.....and awesome. if I floor it in 2nd gear at 40mph I just leave stripes.
