Just to add a little bit about the HDR hating.
It's often times not possible to expose an entire image properly with a single image. Look at this photo for for example. The car is exposed properly but the wheels/tires are horribly under exposed. Had the wheels been exposed properly, the car would have been blown out to kingdom come. The only way around it is to set up some strobes on the wheels, or do an HDR. An HDR would be quite a bit easier to do since you wouldn't need to setup lights. Furthermore, just because it's an HDR doesn't mean that it needs to be way over rendered. If done concervitivly, you can make a good HDR image without being able to tell it's obviously an HDR. |

Not too interested at shooting cars, this pretty much my only serious shot i've taken. This was also taken with idiotic settings cause I didn't really know shit about photography back then. It's taken with D5100 + 50/18 and light with 2x SB700 from both sides of the camera. ASA 1600 (why the hell was I using 1600?) Shutterspeed (1/1000, i guess auto focal plane since I can't remember turning it on. (also, this speed makes no sense at all.) aperture 1.8 (this doesn't make any sense either) If I'd redo the shot i would use completely different settings and add another flash on boom above the car. |

Yours are completely overdone and it's completely obvious. It's a terrible form of post processing; and you make it even worse.

P.S. I'm not a professional by any means, so my shots won't be nearly as good as some of the beauties in here. In fact, I've barely even tinkered with any photo editing software. That said, constructive criticism is always welcome:

thread bump!
...and for rolling shots guys, the photographer needs to be driven in a car alongside the subject car. As for camera settings, theeasiest way is to set to "S" mode (shutter priority) and shoot at shutter speeds between 1/30-1/50 secs while driving between 40-60 mph. Burst mode helps since a few will come out blurred.

Nice cars and cool pics, but something got jacked up during your editing on the last one - the front tire shouldn't be two different shades of black.
