Upgrade problems

Hello. I have upgraded my factory Business cd ( no navi ) to the Professional cd. Not a big upgrade, u know, but we must start somewhere right?
After the straight swap, I started having problems with the lights in the complete dash and radio auto dimming. The light either goes full on, or full off. When I try to adjust light in the on board computer nothing changes. Any ideas?

Professional Radio must be coded to your car for the problems to be fixed.

So i have to have the radio coded to car so the problems disappear?
I have read about many people doing this swap, but it's the first time I saw this problem.
Maybe not worth the hassle. I guess the coding will be more expensive than the actual stereo?

I just found out that if I put my hand directly in the middle of the dash between the speed and rev counter, the radio dims down, if I take it out, radio dims up.
I went a bit further to check this, and tried to point a flash light at that point in the middle of the counters, during the night, and it dimes up...
I have never heard about this function. Can someone confirm if this is a real function?
