Protecting front dash from the sun

I use a vinyl cleaner on the front dash but am getting worried that the sun exposure will damage the plastic over time.

Is there anything else I can do to protect the vinyl?

For the matte look you can go with 303 Aerospace Protectant or Cockpit Premium and if you want the shiny look you can go with Poorboys Natural Stuff or Chemical Guys VRP. That's what I use.

Cheers,
Nick

+1 for 303... it includes an SPF. Use that once a month or so and you shouldn't have to worry about anything.

Two of my favorite products for UV protection are 303 Aerospace Protectant and Optimum Protectant Plus. Both of which are on sale during our Leather Care Sale. 303 AP offers more UV protection than the OPP, but it's strictly a UV protectant and dressing. Protectant Plus has some mild cleaners in it so it will clean and protect in 1 step.

Both products work on vinyl, rubber, leather, leatherette and plastic, both on the car and around the home. Can't go wrong with either one.

+1 If you like a matte look the OPP has less shine than 303, it also smells much better.

I love 303 but didn't know that it was OK to use on leather. Do you use it clean the leather? I use it on all the black plastic parts - dash, rubber door and trunk seals, engine plastic, tires, etc. and it really works great. IMO it makes all those parts look new rather than "dressed" and coated - just what I'm looking for.

I like what you are doing over at Acurazine with the "product of the day" thing.

My favorite way is to put 3m Chrystalline tint 70% on the windshield. Can barely tell its on but it blocks 50% of the heat and 99% UV

I was considering it but it is pretty expensive. Most of the shops around here are asking about $300-400 for it, basically the price of a tint of the sides and backs. I just want to protect the vinyl. I've been using Maguire's Vinyl and Rubber protector which supposedly has some UV protection.

That's not just there, everyday there is a different Detailed Image product on special, theres a thread in this forum with them as well. Theyre also on the website, unless you're talking about something other than this?

That's why they put a warning label on them telling you not to drive with it in place.

But seriously, unless you are fortunate to have both a garage and a covered parking space wherever you drive, etc., consider the time the average person drives, say to/from work versus the time the car sits in the parking lot while you are at work with the hot sun beating thru the windows. All of which argues in favor of a visor.

Lexol sells a cleaner with UV protectant. Any plastics cleaners with UV will work. Doesn't have to be expensive.
