I'm not sure I agree with the TT vs Z4 comparison. IMHO TT has the edge on looks ( but that's a very personal thing) and interior design, but Z4 has the edge in driving, particularly if the TT is the FWD model. Even the 4WD TT loses out, unless of course all you want is heaps of grip followed by understeer at the limit The Bimmer gives you the opportunity to serve it up as you like it, with a neutral chassis and the capacity for some controlled, fun oversteer at the limit. And although the TT's V6 is great, it's hard to beat that lovely BMW straight six....

Probably in the Jetta, but I compared the B7 A4 2.0TFSI back to back with my E90 325i when I was buying, and there is no comparison. The TFSI engine lacked guts and could ve caught short if the turbo wasn't online... my 325 always feels much more solid at any speed.

A couple of months back, I took delivery of a new Audi 2.0 turbo TT with manual transmission.

At the time I was seriously thinking of purchasing a 325i coupe, went through the trade-in thing with BMW and they just weren't interested in trading my 2005 320i executive.

Audi on the other hand offered $5,000.00 more on my trade-in.

I should point out that when I went to take delivery of the new TT another very pleasent experience occurred. I was expecting the usual free keyring and CD case from the dealer, no wait for it, the car had a couple of options thrown in, namely, PDC (parking sensors) and the Bose surround hifi system (yep, about $2,500.00 worth of goodies).

Now, what is the car like to drive? Bloody marveleous/bloody fun... a real sense of occassion on each drive.

What have I owned in the past?
2002 Mini Cooper S
330ci Coupe (manual transmission)
320i Executive

The TT has better handling then the Cooper S, feels just as fast as my 330ci and the interior knocks the 320i for six.

All in all I am delighted with the Audi.

I recieve follow-up phone calls from the dealer regularly, in fact I have just been invited to a quattro drive the range day at Eastern Creek compliments of Audi Australia.

.... but good to hear you had a pleasant experiance with the new car buying so how do you find the audi now that you have had it a few months, compared to when you first picked it up? we always form first impressions, anythig changed?

i'm curious to know also, how is teh after sales service from audi?

Gucci's trade in experiance sounds familiar. I think this is an area BMW's Area Managers need to look into as my experiance (and a few others I know) left a lot to be desired. We know BMW sells good cars but they don't seem hungry to do deals. Probably the coupe was too new at that stage and the cocky dealers thought they could sell at retail price.

The E92 is a stunning car in it's own right but I think the Audi looks sexier. Maybe the fact that the TT's arn't prostituted like a BMW add to it's desirability.

Good on you mate i am currently waiting for BMW Aus to make the M-sports kit for the e92 coupe official but there taking ages. So im still thinking hard about the 3.2L TT. When are you taking delivery of your TT? make sure to post your experience.

Well three months on and the honeymoon period with the TT is only getting better.

No downside to ownership, it handles, it goes, it stops and there is something very special about that flat bottom steering wheel and the protruding rear wing (deploys at 120kph and then retracts again at 80kph).

This car gets under your skin, you really look for an excuse to drive it.

As for the Audi track day at Eastern Creek, this doesn't happen until 28.03.2007. However, I have been informed that I will be sampling some of the following;

RS4, S6, A8 4.2TDI and the S8.

I guess not all German car companies are the same......

Anyway, I think I better go for a drive now.

With the rear pop-up spoiler, you can deploy it at anytime...there is a switch directly situated behind the gear lever (so whenever you want to look quick/unlawful just press the button).

Last year I drove both the Golg GTi and the new R32. Both excellent cars, but the GTi was truly a standout..don't know how they do it for the money?

Has anyone else out there driven the GTi?

Nice choice mate, the new TT, along with the R8 are some of the first Audi's i've ever liked, i was seriously considering the 3.2l v6 too there for awhile, if it was a hardtop cabrio i probably would be driving one around right now.....

hardtop... that's one if the reasons i bought my car, and didn't wait for the e93... sorry, but i just find it ugly, that car is (e93) way too big for a hard top, and how it works just looks unfinished shame too, cos i was looking forward to the new one

This is the reason why I don't pay too much attention to what a car magazine says. Car ownership is not about flogging a car to death over a couple of days and then givng a verdict on how good or bad it is.

The TT is a great road car and I'd have no problem owning one over an E92.

maybee i just drove the wrong one then... it was a crimson red 335... i thought crimson was horrid on a car as big at the vert, and the way the pannels joined towards the rear wasn't my cup of tea...

also, i was expecting the 335 to be faster? after reading all the reviews about it, i was expecting WOW, but i got good... kinda didn't feel that "pushed back in your seat" feeling...

the coupe on the other hand! whoa, hot car, i wouldn't mind an e92 m3

I drove the 3.2 TT and it didn't seem all that exhilirating. But I would like to try the 2.0 TT because I think the turbo would be a bit more perky.

My opinion is with the 335 steptronic (if you are only going to drive it for a short burst courtesy of your favourite BMW dealership), you really need to try it into sports mode to appreciate the fun factor and grunt.

Also a lot of BMW sales people think they are pretty good, so i can appreciate why they don't offer good trade in deals.

yea, it certainly is...... also 3.2 is not worth the premium over 2.0T.....

All the new orders currently in the dealership are all 2.0T with 19"s
