Any wood experts (not you Will!!!)

Got four wooden doors to stick on eBay but not sure what type of wood they are. Anyone have any ideas.

This was my Dad's response on e-mail (who I thought was the family wood expert ) -
"No idea, but they're not pine. I think they're one of the "soft" hardwoods - Sapele, or something like that....Balsa is a "soft" hardwood -bet you didn't know that.. Couldn't help you even if I saw them; I don't know my woods."
They'll have been from Jewson's or one of those types of places (my house's previous owner worked for them).

I could of course just sell them as an unknown wood.

Piccies...

Do you think??? Not worth anything then??? I wasn't sure, my house is a mixture of good & crap stuff from Jewsons, these look quite nice but it wouldn't surprise me if they were just crap stuff.

Honestly, just scrap them???

My Father in Law's entire house is heated from wood/coal, that's where the rest of these wardrobes are heading, should I add these to the pile then???

if they're light(ie. hollow) - scrap em!

if heavy/solid - then maybe worth it to someone

as matching double door sets aren't that cheap to buy

They're not all that heavy. Put it this way, after a whole day ripping the two double fitted wardrobes out of the bedroom and feeling dead on my feet, I still managed to carry them all downstairs. I guess pretty light (but felt heavy at the time ).

Might just stick them off eBay at 99p - saves me either taking them to the tip or having to cut them up for F-i-L and then brushing up the sawdust from the drive (like I did on Sunday ).

Throw them in the front garden and a gypsy will steal them within 24 hours.

I had some trees i'd cut down in my back garden a while back and they stole them. Just so happened I wanted rid anyway so saved me doing it/paying someone to do it. Bonus.

Agreed, I reckon oak veneer.

Rog, you can buy new doors of that quality for about £50...is it worth the hassle??

It's actually more hassle to take them to the tip/cut them up for F-i-L. I've got photos, just need to stick them on eBay, if I make a fiver, at least I've not ruined the inside of the X3!!!
