and your annual maintenance fees will cost you a nice 330i every year or so...

Mas o menos.

I'm ok with that. I expect it to be $3-$5k spread out over the three individual cars anyway.

I'm not trying to be a dick....and trust me, my good fortune has very little to do with me. I just was smart enough to marry well.

sell the vette and get an e90 m3. amazing daily, and way more capable than a c5.

Have you looked at E91 wagons? They handle and drive almost exactly the sedans and you get some tailgate room as well. The 330 intake does work as mine has it.

Is the car a stick? It really helps if it is in my opinion.

I have had mine for almost 8 years and over 120,000 miles (car has almost 180k on it now) and I haven't got bored with it yet.

When I was in college, I had a 4th gen Firebird Formula hard top with a 6 speed that I learned how to autocross with, and grew up in a corvette household - my dad has a 91 Z07 and an 09 Z51(both 6 speeds) and needless to say the 2009 is a rocket. Driving his corvettes is always a novelty but when I get back into the 330i I never miss the corvette that much.

Cars are powerful these days, but the NA e90 is such a great jack of all trades, it isn't the best at anything but is a sum of each part of the car working together seamlessly.

The good news is that buying a 10 year old car you don't have to worry about depreciation if you don't like it.

and I just happen to have an amazing, low mile one avail:

I made an assumption about your Corvette thinking it was a manual trans. If it isn't, then you won't be disappointed in the 330i you have found. Just go and drive it. The 06 330i is probably one of the best of breeds of the E90's

Regarding the E91, the 2011 or 2012 have the best features of that line.

Not true?
There is definitely a performance gap, but given that both motors are the same N52 at heart, swapping a couple parts will go a long way. Most of the difference is in the 3-stage intake manifold found in the 330i, if you read about it you will see it is easily installed into a newer 328i (provided you can source it).

I bought the 330i with no intentions to mod, so the idea of buying the 328i and trying to squeeze more power out of it would turn me off the purchase. The 330i has all the power you need out of the box-- perhaps why there is a "love affair" for it on these forums as you mentioned.
