TEASER: Custom E90 Ambient Light Controlled LED Angel Eyes
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The LED drivers will be controlled by an Arduino logic board via a temt6000, ambient light photo transistor. Thanks to Marc (LuxAngelEyes) for all the help. Half of this project belongs to him. Hopefully I'll be done tomorrow and be able to mount my freshed sprayed LCI Msport front bumper and the angel eyes. The amber reflectors will be painted gloss black. UPDATE: Pictures in post #15 and 18. Video 8/10/2011 Still working on the programming but I'm pretty much done. There is a 1.5 second delay. I'm going to try and program welcome lighting and blinker fading. What I mean by blinker fading is I'm going to try and program the 2 rings to fade on and off, acting as a blinker. Like the new mustang taillights. Not sure how I'll like it...we'll see. Pictures of the install: Arduino Pro Mini tucked away under the steering column. This is also under the steering column. The wire pop out right under the brake booster. Red wire is power coming from a voltage regulator in the engine bay. 2 black wires are going from the arduino to the LED drivers. 3 wires for the temt6000 photo transistor going up along the driver's side A pillar. Temt6000 view from the inside. Mount right above the rear view mirror. There are about 150 SMD LEDs per headlight. Thanks guys! I'm excited as well. I don't think I'll be able to finish the logic part of the install by bimmerfest though. :/
It looks like the photo transistor I got is a dud. |

Here's a shot of them installed. I'll be messing around with the logic board this week!
I need to get some direct sunlight shots. These are at minimum brightness. Too many people were flashing me at night because they were too bright!!!!! |

Here are some more pictures in direct sunlight. Again, minimum brightness. It's too much of a PITA to turn it up. I have to open up the cover for the angel eyes and then turn up the potentiometers.
I'll post full brightness pictures when I get the logic board done. |
