E90 676A HIFI- BSW Stage 1 upgrade : need input

Has anyone done the BSW stage 1 speaker upgrade (all 4 mid drivers and all 4 tweeters) for the stock hifi 676a in the Sedan? (the 10speaker setup)

The sound system is actually pretty decent as stock I thought it was going to be worse, but after only having my car for 5 days now im starting to feel the flaws in my 676A system ( I have a 2006 325i) here's what I notice

A. Volume Cap- The Volume caps out really low and even at that point ( with settings at +2 Bass +2 Treble +6 SVol) the Bass and Highs sound quite "muddy".

B. Bass is there but not. It hits on certain songs and then other songs is totally missing. And on the songs it does it as I said at high volumes sounds "thrashed or muddy"

C. Highs & mids aren't Announced enough- In the lexus is 250 with mark levinson the mids are so beautiful in this thing its very Dull and not "bright"

All in all im realizing the MAJOR flaws of my 676a hifi system

So I know my choice for my amp& sub upgrades (which should be obvious?) JL Audio xd600/6 (with Technic harness) and Earthquake sws 8xi (with jtsherri spacers/gaskets)

But im not quite sure what to do about the other 8 speakers. I honestly want to go with the BSW stage 1 kit because it is plug&play but I wonder about the quality and sound? And for $750+ its quite a bit of money to shell out for 4 mids & 4 tweeters,

Does any one have any input on this kit for the 676a hifi for the sedan?

I would leave the rear speakers stock and upgrade the fronts. There are other options than the BSW kit.

Yes your description is accurate.
Easy route is MusicarNW Kit.
I think you can get more bang for your buck
than the BSW route if you want to piece things together. Don't worry about the rear speakers or
put to much money into them.

I did the BSW Stage 1 upgrade about 9 months ago in my '11 335i which came with the HiFi Stereo setup...though by 2011 the rear tweeters had been deleted by BMW.

I am currently running the full Stage 1 upgrade (as the BSW tweeters easily fit where there used to be stock tweeters). I am very pleased with the upgrade so far, and it did make a noticeable difference.

What I, and I know several other forum members, are waiting on is for BSW to release their Stage 2 upgrade (i.e., replacement for the stock HiFi amp). That should really make the Stage 1's come alive...as for right now they're running off of the 10-15W RMS that the stock amp is likely giving out.

So...a night and day change? Not really. But a marked improvement? Definitely.

Ahh so you did the stage 1 upgrade with no amp upgrade?? yah that would be a little difference but you gotta upgrade that amp!!!! If I was to be doing the stage 1 bsw kit I would be doing it with a JL audio XD600/6 with technic's harness.

I would be doing

2- Earth Quake SWS-8xi 8" subs (with jtsherri spacers)
Jl Audio XD600/6 (with Technic Harness)
Stage 1 BSW kit;
4 Mid Drivers- 1 Each Front Door, 2 Rear shelf
4 Tweeters - 1 Each Front Door, 2 Rear shelf

How do you guys think my setup would sound? L7 comparable?

Yep the xd600/6 is most likely the cheaper option, and its basically pnp.

Their speakers even seem overpriced, the jehnert kit is a better deal.

yah ive read a lot of threads of people using the JL xd600/6, but haven't seen much on people swapping out the door/rear shelf speakers. Its mostly people swapping only the amp & subs. Should I just try that first & see how it sounds??? I just want a SUPER crisp&clear sound.

Yah that's what I was thinking it seems a little over priced for 4 drivers & 4 tweeters. Although most of your $$ is going to the Plug n play im guessing.

Where could I find the Jehnert Kit? and the Price isn't really much of a deterrent, if the extra money is worth it i'll spend it. I want the highest quality Materials & sound . Ever. Period.

You can get the Jehnert Flatline kit from Musicar NW or Unexpected Creations. Ken at Musicar can set you up with everything you need, and it's plug and play.

The jehnert kit doesn't include rear speakers, but they areen't that important anyways. Most of us either leave them stock or replace them with cheaper speakers anyways.

If you have some bucks to spend

If you have some bucks to spend
The MusicarNW Kits are the way to go.
All parts to do the install are provided and the amps and processors are pretuned as much as possible . No soldering or crimping required.
Also he has known to work sets of components that work together and can
tailor the sound to your tastes. These are known to work proven configurations.
Its painless one stop shopping.
He usually recommends Morels for the doors unless its a coupe where only the Jehnerts and Focals fit.

Talked to Ken at MusicarNW, he wont sell me a set of speakers only, They only do there "kits" which have to come with an amp starting at 1900. Iam going to go with the JL Audio XD600/6 with technic harness. any were I can find the Jenherts & Focals by themselves?

ops im sorry I ment a link for the speakers

Ok so I was reading a little more and then I noticed a familiar subject people kept bringing up "JBL MS-8"
which got me to more researching which brang me to realize the MS-8 and front dash center speaker retrofit

THIS is what I want to do now, BUT I want to know how I would get a Jl audio xd600/6 AND the JBL ms-8 BECAUSE I was reading that the ms-8 is not much of a amp more or so a sound processor so to get some real power you would need to run an amp any how.

What I was wondering is has anyone retrofitted a center speaker, ran a ms-8 and powered ALL SPEAKERS (including under seat woofers &rear dash) by a jl audio xd600/6?

You can use the ms8's amp or an external amp for any of the channels.

Email unexpected creations and ask them about the jehnert flatline 3 way speaker kit. Comes with the front speakers, underseats, and the mounting rings. You can get the wiring adapters from the dealer search for the part number.

Yeah right! I've been wondering what in God's name could be taking so long to design a stock amp replacement?! Every few months I check in on their Facebook page, which they are pretty good about updating, and responding to users' posts. But it's always the same line..."we're working to get it just right, and that takes time."

I can respect taking the time to perfect a product, I do. But this isn't a flux capacitor with an onboard worm hole creator, it's a flippin' amp!

I may just end up biting the bullet and doing what was suggested. Throw the JL XD600/6 with some SWS-8xi under the front seats and along with JTSherri spacers and Technic's harness, and call it a day.

Am I correct that the XD600/6 would power all four sets of woofers/tweeters, plus the two SWS-8xis?

Thanks.
