How do you keep your car smelling fresh/good ?

Hello everyone, this is an unimportant thread for most, but I was just curious what people use/used to keep their car smelling masculine/feminine/citrusy/floral/candy-like/etc etc.

I thought that I needed to post this thread under "Wash, Wax, Detailing and Cosmetic protection/repairs" - but I wasn't sure if air fresheners or car scents fell in that category... (of course admins may move this if they please)

I personally favor the air-spencer (squash scent) products and because of that I have posted a poll on massdrop.com. What do you guys and gals prefer? no scent? new car smell? leather smell? apple? cherry? female perfume? woody scents? citrus? SQUAAAAASHHHH ?

If you want, you can vote here (https://www.massdrop.com/vote/mm-mm-...ar-smells-gewd) and add more scents and hopefully we can all get our cars smelling fresh.

LET THE "I LOVE / I HATE" posts begin!!!

You have a new car... Blasphemy to put an air freshener in there, this isn't a '96 Pontiac with a rotting corpse in the trunk.

I hate the smell of scents. I just like it smelling clean and fresh. I just cleaned the interior with a mild water/vinegar/oil mix once when I bought it and I keep activated carbon pouches under the seats. Car smells great. Also, having the top down pretty much all of the time helps to keep it fresh.

Now I just vacuum it every few months or so.

Agree. My car air filter smells fantastic every time I step in the car. I actually inhale the air from the vents. Dunno if anyone else has that experience with theirs but I'm hoping my new M3 is the same.

When I eat In N Out in my car it's a f'in disaster for 2 days. What a disgusting mess.

Every month clean every surface of your vehicle with the appropriate cleaner on the inside and it should maintain.

In N Out.... wow... even though i love it, that sh1t isn't coming near my car ever..

anddd besides maintaining its cleanliness, I just wanted to ask what air fresheners people use(d). thanks for the post!

Honestly I never use deodorizers in my cars. I never needed to- just a good wash regularly and a zymol leather cleaner/ conditioner one-two combo

I don't use any deodorizers. I don't like extra smells, just fresh air scent.

As for M3 vs 335is...335 is just a quick car, M3 is a bold statement and feeling, and personally is much sexier than the new 335's.

I cart around volleyball players on occasion before and after practice. Although they are girls they do sweat a lot in the summer. So, this is the best I have used so far:

Haha same here! If you keep your car clean, there is nothing for odors to attach themselves to and the interior will smell nice.

I have a small box I take to the car wash and while I'm waiting for the touchless car wash to do its thing I do a full interior wipe down. A few minutes of cleaning twice a month goes a long way.

My car is about 3 yrs old and every time I give a ride to someone new in my car they always say your car smells like its still new! I just try to keep it clean, no smokers and food. If I bring food in the car, I make sure I open the windows for few mins just so it doesnt stay in the car.

I ride with the windows open as often as is practical. Also, I only smoke in the car with one front window cracked an inch or two (it creates an outward suction) and the ventilation system off until two minutes after putting the cigarette out. Never leave the car sitting with butts in the ashtray.

I use Zaino's leather car products which refresh the leather smell (very authentic aroma, if a bit strong on the first day). It truly smells like a leathergoods boutique on the first day.

No food eaten in the car.

Drinks allowed only if the container has a screw on cap and the drinker uses it.

In the summer, I use my truck to pick up things like bushels of crabs and fish.

Only use the air recirculation feature when I'm driving through tunnels or if I happen to be unavoidably caught driving behind a garbage truck.

PS
The tactics I use to keep the cig smoke smell out of the car apparently work. I can't tell, but my non-smoking friends have commented that they are surprised that I don't smoke in the car and are incredulous when I tell them I do smoke in the car at least once every time I'm in the car.
