E30 at the pump?

anyone know the octane rating of e30 pump gas?

can i run this in replacement of my 94 octane tune without making any changes to the map or can the map be tweaked for some gains if e30 has a higher octane rating ?

This is a pretty cool calcualtor that does alot of the guess work for you.

The one thing to always remember is that E85 might not always be at E85 and the same goes for gasoline.

Lambda fir e30 is different than gas, so the fuel scalar tables in tune have to be changed.

thought so.... without a change to any tables, can i add e30 to my pump gas for knock suppression/ clean up timing?

I have heard people do that, not done it myself. May be gets an extra point, if you want more points, have to add more etanol but then you start running leaner, which is bad for knock. So its conflicting.

I usually ran the 93 octane OTS tune with no issues on full E30 from the pump.

Garage List
I've used e30 to prevent timing pull on pump maps. No problems at all. I've never seen a pump map (besides stock) where the scalars cant handle e30.

I've also run E30 on a 93 ots tune. It works fine but don't expect gains if you don't change the tune.

We have a winner!

E27-E30 works fine, with hardly any leaning out at all. You are only using about 12% more fuel demand, VS the 30% E85 requires.

here are a couple logs from my wedge 94 octane tune (now running e30 in the tank)

still getting timing corrections.... thought this would clean up timing.

any input?

I think E30 comes up to around 93 octane.

That can't really be answered without specifying what grade of gas it's mixed with. Do they publish that anywhere?
Assuming the usual octane for E85, then a blend of 30% pure ethanol with 70% pure 87 would be almost exactly 93 octane like you said, but we'd have to know what grade gas was used for sure.
