Anyone running the "on3 single turbo" kit on their n54??

Hi,

I'm wondering how many people (if anyone) are running the on3/single turbo kit on their n54.

I'm wanting to upgrade my turbos and have no big interest in upgrading with another set of turbos.

I'm wanting feedback on this kit or others... What tune you're running, and issues/ hiccups etc...

Thanks!!

Get a real kit that comes with a good turbo and wastegates. The only thing worth anything in the on3 kit is the manifold, and that is a question mark at this point as far as performance goes.

DocRace, JPWorkz have both proven they will put down some good power and are just a little bit more, but you get much better quality.

what turbos do you have already?

Doc Race and JP Works both have a Full Hot Parts kit w/ everything you need except turbo and wastegates for under $3k.

Stock turbos. I'm FBO, no meth, new hpfp, stage 2 lpfp.

Yes, I've been looking at the hot parts kits as well.

Just wondering if my jb4 will be fine with the single turbo setup. I like the fail-safes it has.

Thought you meant you have a twin scroll turbo you would use with a kit...

Since you dont have a turbo to use already, buy the full kit from one of those guys.

JB4 + BEF is the best way IMO to tune a single

I looked into it for a bit and to buy the on3 kit with their reputation they would have to give it to me to test and even that is questionable with the labor involved..
Nobody wanted to replace parts and especially with how they go about biz from what I have read..

I was all for it for once as well until I googled just more than their bmw kit lol.. Google them

I have a Borg Warner and a precision 6266 in my shop thatgot picked up in some trading.

Sorry we weren't on the same page.

They were going to be used on a ls2 and 2jz builds I was doing. Went with a gt35r on the 2jz and still have 2 ls2/ t56 swaps that I have some plans for.

I've read all about their other kits... Some decent, some horrible. But to be honest RB's (once the best aftermarket alternative) are getting the same reviews.

You can't make everyone happy all the time...

I've ran a lot of put together turbo kits... Especially with 2jzs and Hondas. I'd run all eBay solid parts with quality mechanical parts. Never had an issue besides some welds on manifolds cracking on some occasions

I was hoping someone does. But even if someone got the kit and buy a 6266 precision and swap the turbos you would still make out less than a few of the other kits.

I have a 6266... No wastegates at the moment anymore though.

I'm all about saving some cash and using parts I already have. I'd rather play around with some different setups than have what one company likes this their standard

For $3000 its a good conversion. Im digging top mounts for the simple reason if turbos fail then the turbo is right there vs the OEM location. The on3 kits dont sell much because the hp rating they listed wasnt as impressive as most but i think a lot of ppl should look into it and if they need more then just buy another style or model turbo. Someone should def do this and give it a review

I love top mounts! Look sexy and easy to work on.

The manifold could be more restrictive, turbo may not be made as well as other high end units etc...

I just want some feedback before biting the bullet on anything

Those journal bearings will out spool, perform and last longer than those china turbos on3 will provide. Omar on n54 tech is running a 6266 journal bearing jpwork kit @750whp. My 6266 journal bearing is @693whp.

Not a 335i but I had the on3 turbo kit on my cobra. Fitment was 8 out of 10. Had to open the holes for the manifold studs, but that's nothing. But all the people that had the kit knew to change the cheap wastegates and bov. The turbo didn't give me any problems though.

That jpworkz is probably the route I'll take...

I have other turbos to play with if I'm not satisfied with the one they provide.

Anyone interested in a group buy?

This kit doesn't seem that bad. A lot of people just avoid them because their kit is cheap money wise. You can also remove the intercooler option which will make the kit like $2700 also. They've been in the mustang game for a while and I know several people who run kits on their pony's with nothing but positive reviews.

I'm already FBO with a 7" vrsf intercooler.

I think the jpworkz is a solid starting point.

A friend of mine is running the on3 kit on his 2 valve and has nothing but good things to say about it. He said fitment on the manifolds needed some tweaking and some grinding but it was to be expected
