BMW Certificate of repair

Hi all,

I am wondering if anybody can tell me where I stand on this.
I bought an E93 325i convertible 2008 around 6 months ago which had been in an accident causing damage to the rear. The car was repaired by the main dealer (Partridge BMW) and the certificate of repair was given to me by the previous owner. The certificate came with a 3 year guarantee of which 2 years remain.
I have since noticed that water is getting in the boot area, where the car was repaired.
After contacting Partridge about the problem, I was told that the certificate is not transferable between owners. The certificate does not state this anywhere.
Does anyone know where I stand with this? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Is the original owner detailed on the certificate?

If the old owner is not clearly stated on the certificate they should honour it, especially as it does not state anywhere on it that its non transferable. It seems like they are doing anything they can to avoid doing any further work.

Call their bluff and demand to see terms and conditions stating that is the case.

other than my previous sarcastic answer, I fail to see how BMW can claim a 3 year accident damage repair is invalided by an owner transfer, assuming the car has been in no further damage.

How can they certify the repair then invalidate it because someone else now owns the car, is the car alergic to another owner (sorry sarcasm again)

Hi
Thanks for replies. The BMW body shop have since called me back and the secretary has told me that after speaking to the supervisor, they have decided that it's something they will definitely look into and it's booked in for Tuesday.
Not very impressed with how BMW treat their customers so far, especially with the outcome of a speaker problem I have also had, which in explain in a new thread in abit.

So this page

http://www.bmw.co.uk/en_GB/topics/ow...bodyshops.html

doesn't give you much except for right at the very bottom of the page where it says

Quote:
We will issue you with a BMW Approved Certificate of repair which guarantees our quality of workmanship for the lifetime of your ownership of the vehicle
