iphone 3g not charging

For some reason my iphone 3g is not charging with the ipod connector. The battery is shown like how it usually it is when you charge, but no charging takes place. Also when I first pop it in says something bout putting it into air plane mode.

i have the ipod/usb adapter oem

could it be that your ipod needsa new battery? try another ipod and see if it charges?

Looks like your ipod is not holding the charge.

Phone charges fine at home

Same here. I think a lot of people think their phone is charging when it really isn't.

i heard from BMW that the ipod 3g phones arn´t compatible with the ipod link..

this is also the same on e46/39/6x,8x ..

The Ipod adapter only charges Ipods not Itouches. It plays both however. I just bought an old Ipod for my car and have an Itouch for personal use.

Yeah, the Itouch is like the same thing as the Iphone just without the phone.

Now, has anybody tried plugging the Iphone charging cable directly into the usb port? It is supposed to charge the iphone when plugged into a computer, why not charge it when plugged into the usb port in your car?

this seems very hit or miss... my 3g and now my 3gs both charge, every once in a while it doesn't though. I'd say 95% of the time it charges

Remember, the battery symbol appears even when it is not charging. So how are you determining whether it is charging?

Do you actually see the battery level increasing after an hour or so?

If you think it is charging, and the phone started out with a low battery, try plugging it in for an hour drive and then see if it is fully charged.

Do ipods charge when the car is off? Anybody know?

To clarify, my 3GS does not charge when connected to the BMW iPod adapter. However, when connected to the USB port in the armrest with the Apple USB connector it does charge.
