I found some information that I didn't know about while I was doing research to write an app for checksum calculation:

Quote:
Updating checksums in NFS files
NFS/WinKFP refuses to flash modified files, but you can circumvent that by using NCS Dummy to update the checksums in the modified files. NCS Dummy supports updating checksums in NFS data files (*.0DA), NFS program files (*.0PA) and NFS NAAB boot update description files (*.0BA).

Please note that NCS Dummy only recalculates checksums to make the file valid for WinKFP. NCS Dummy does not interpret the Intel HEX binary data in any way. The firmware in many modules is protected against tampering by an RSA digital signature, so making changes to the binary data will break validation and the module will not work. NCS Dummy cannot fix this! For digitally signed modules you'll have to make sure the binary data in the NFS file is properly signed before making NCS Dummy update the checksums.
I've tried this and it does work. I'm going to write an linux app to convert back/forth from the intel hex to binary and see if I can do some map editing and flashing with the DCAN cable.

Good info...

Now, lets see this truly develope into an open source project, not a commercial one. If that happens I'll be very disappointed considering how this was advertised.

I found one in C++, but I haven't played with it. Let me know if you figure that out. Cools stuff.

I have the PROcede flash and really don't want to write over it otherwise I would have done this a long time ago. So as soon as I can back it up, I'm game... If I can find the right one, it should give me a 50hp bump over the base map.

This would be the shit for those who don't want to spend a lot of money... Especially until we get an open source application on the ground and running. From what I have read, the B3 DME flash bumps the boost to 16 psi.

The B3 flash is also designed for an engine with a different compression level, and Alpina made a lot of changes, such as the LPFP, which I believe is 120 psi on the B3

I'm well aware that Alpina may have used the low compression option for the 335, but if you don't ever try it you'll never know. Wouldn't it be cool to figure out which assemble number the B3s is and have a stock 390 hp car?

If they went with lower compression then they might have also ran away with a lot more timing then we can support so careful buddy

did you back it up yet? more importantly did you get your car back?

I still have CPO for another month. Car got new turbo's yesterday, installed today, so hopefully they will get it finished off tomorrow. BTW, bought an MSD81 to play with. So I don't need to backup anything.

Will the COBB do logging without being installed?

Wow. This is purely awesome.

As someone else who is technologically literate, i might have to give this a try....

Or perhaps they're busy working on it rather than wasting time on the forum giving updates every two seconds. These things don't just happen over night. The progress that has been made already is incredible. Give it some time.

I'm happy to say, it's quite the opposite. Lots of progress and news to report soon. It would be safe to say that this is the quiet before the storm. There are a few legal-related matters to wrap up. Being on the receiving end of a few unveiled threats (from more than one tuning company) did put things in perspective.

Hahaha @ legal threats. So it's cool for these tuners to rip off Siemens but not for you to do it? Lol - I guess one thing is always constant - people will always do whatever they can to protect ther own interests - natural animal instinct
