group oil change? Ottawa/Montreal
you know what i think we need to do, we need to get all the members together in Ottawa and maybe Montreal; and all change our oil together! one big giant messy DIY oil change day. (i'm at 8,000 kms and never changed the oil)
ALL RIGHT WHO"S WITH ME!! ? |

Even though I'm sure the BMW people know what they are talking about when they say there is no need to change the oil before the scheduled maintenance but I too was debating in changing the oil right after the winter, currently at 9300km. Also noticed the my oil level is at half full or empty for the pessimists! Might need to pass by the dealership before I change the oil for a little top up!
Keep me posted with this oil change get together. We can maybe organize something where my brother works part time (they have 3 lifts!) Later,

An Automotive lift
Got to find a flat surface place with an automotive lift, a 17mm Socket Wrench and a Strap Wrench (I've got the last two). You need to get the old oil completely drained to the oil pan by letting it sit for awhile.
I just hit 27,000 km on my car so I won't need any oil change until 36,000 km. I use the 24K interval. Changing oil is not that hard. Getting a sufficient clearance to unscrew the drain plug is the hardest part. |

Got a question for you guys that change their own oil. How do you dispose of the dirty oil?
